On came a band that everyone knew, Asking Alexandria, This is a band I had listed to since I was young. The lights in the venue dimmed, the crowd was silent as they watched the lights and lasers dart around the stage then before they knew it, the band ran out screaming there first song. the crowd went insane, with a band with this much history more or less the full crowd knew about every song the band was playing and sang along!

Within the opening of their performance, they came out putting on a show, going down closer to the fans squashed up against the front barrier. Frontman Danny was absolutely nailing the vocals on the night which made fans enjoy the night even more.

After their latest release in 2017 the band has shifted in style when comparing it to their inception into the heavy music scene. This year back with the bands original frontman which does bring back some original tones to the music that they are releasing. With Worsnop’s return, lead guitarist Ben Bruces’s creative flair and the energy in which they as a band deliver their many varied versions of metalcore.

For those in the crowd not close enough to see his face (also no displays in the O2 Academy) the concert’s visuals were spectacular and absolutely mesmerising. Lights, Lasers and smoke going everywhere. The band kicked off the night with the song, Into The Fire, This song is the perfect choice to kick off the night. It gets the crowd energy up and sets up the rest of the setlist perfectly.

Half way through the set the band played a song Where Did It Go? Which is an instant classic, it goes from a subtle calm rap to heavy metal which is what the crowd loved. The show was based off of their new album with Danny Worsnop. In this album you can tell Danny has returned to reignite the bands chemistry and on stage you can tell the connection between the band members was strong.

Also halfway through the performance the band slowed things down and went acoustic for the song Someone, Somewhere which showed a different side to the band, Its not often you see a band that is renowned for heavy music go acoustic during a gig. This goes to show the band is very versatile, the band did this with the song Moving On in 2014. They still showed there heavy metal approach throughout the acoustic song.

The band played two songs on their encore - Moving on and The Death of Me. The band went all out for these two songs, With Danny and Ben coming down close to the fans at the edge of the stage. The lights from behind them lit up the whole room, with bursts of white and red hitting the back of the academy. The band showed up at the venue and put on a great performance. They set up the night perfectly for the next band on stage which was the incredible Black Veil Brides. The bands are on on a UK tour co headlining.

The bands are both respected and known throughout the world and Asking Alexandria certainly proved this. Despite having a major change up in the band, they pulled it together and played one hell of a show. Asking Alexandria know how to turn up a venue.

Black Veil Brides’ Andy Black took to the stage in a roar, They played their newest songs to their oldest hits. This is a band that has been touring for years just like Asking Alexandria which makes them both perfect for this co headline tour.

The fans had to wait through half the set to listen to the hit When They Call my Name. This song is a different approach for the band but its ones that definitely works. The band played through the set like Asking Alexandria with an array of smoke, lights and lasers.

The band graced the crowd with a three song encore and one of the songs in an old classic called In The End, This was the song that ended the night and the crowd absolutely loved it. Singing every word to the song with Andy Black was making the fans fill with joy. Just like the other bands that night Black Veil Brides showed up, put on a performance and ended the night with a bang!

The Resurrection tour continues throughout the UK
