Fans at the new Dundee Carnival 56 festival have been impressed by the incredible performances by headline acts The Fratelli’s, Mark Ronson, The Charlatans and Rudimental along with many others throughout a fun-filled weekend creating an incredible and unforgettable atmosphere and setting a great mark for a new Scottish festival.
At the Jam Live stage fans were thrilled as The Cliftons opened for the day. The Cliftons are a Scottish alternative/indie rock band, formed in 2013 in Aberdeen, Scotland. The band has performed at a few festivals already this year and are also to perform a few gigs with The Sherlocks later this year. Their performance was fantastic and being an opening act for one of the stages was an amazing opportunity that they took advantage of.

Clearly enjoying the festival vibes, throughout the day Sinderins, Vans T’s and the Prides performed. The members of Sinderins first jammed together in the spirited and convivial atmosphere of Thomson’s pub, Dundee. Sinderins have gone from performing informally to regularly selling out 400-seat venues around Scotland, meaning their performance at Carnival 56 was a fantastic, relaxed, and well-constructed. They projected an amazing atmosphere throughout their set, which was required in the midst of a crazy, fun filled festival.

They have performed at a few popular festivals across the UK so of course were more than happy to show their true love from music at Carnival 56.

The Prides are back on the road with many new songs, some of which they played at the new festival. The atmosphere was exactly what you expect at a festival. Closing the night was the English musician Mark Ronson. He performed all his famous hits to the Dundee crowd and also brought on Kyle Falconer to perform with him. Kyle Falconer is a local Dundonian musician, best known as the lead vocalist of The View. Bringing on a local artist was great for the festival as it represented the festivals aims, mixing International and Local performers. Ronson performed some amazing mixes to the Dundee crowd which was a great end to the first day. Mark Ronson also paid tribute to his late friend Amy Winehouse and performed songs they created together, which had the crows singing along to.
