To people of a certain age Pixies represent the heady days of past ventures …the soundtrack of their youths and many people will attend tonight to try and rescue some of that back into their livesbut to the younger generation Pixies are cult classics and a must see band, probably installed into their minds by their parents…who are probably with them!!!
Tonight is the first of a sold out 2 night stint in Glasgow’s Kelvingrove Bandstand as part of the now annual Summer Nights Gigs. Known for their full throttle business like approach to playing live its quite safe to say there will be no scissor kicks or any silliness like talking to the audience just a wall full on noise.

As twilight descended on the bandstand the Pixies took to the stage and with a minimum of fuss they launched into Gouge Away and Wave of Mutilation followed by their cover of The Jesus And Mary Chain, tackled Head On.
With barely a stop for breath, almost Ramones-like, the songs come thick and fast, until they slow it down a bit for a sing-along Caribou.
