Tyneside Alt-Popsters 'BARE ROOTS' Release Second Single in 4 weeks with 'Away Too Long'
Tyneside’s Alt-Popsters ‘BARE ROOTS’ release their new single ‘Away Too Long’ in four weeks, as well as appearing at this year’s THIS IS TOMORROW Festival at Exhibition Park!
'Away Too Long' OUT NOW!
Hot on the heals of their epic debut release, 'Ride The Wave', the latest product of Newcastle's burgeoning indie rock scene have confirmed the release of their follow up single 'Away Too Long.'
Having made a statement that this sound expanding force are here for the long haul with their debut, the band are poised to take things up and another sonic level with their latest offering.
Clocking in at just under four minute mark, the anthemic and highly infectious 'Away Too Long' reminds us of why we fell in love with the guys with guitars in the first place; big choruses, hooky bass lines, mesmerising rock guitar solos turned to eleven, heavy drum loops and a spine tingling vocal line that wouldn't sound out of place on the arena circuit, delivered by Bare Roots charismatic front man, Anthony Francis.
Speaking about the new single, he said:
“The track was influenced by those big nostalgic rock songs. Tracks such as 'Go Your Own Way' by Fleetwood Mac and 'Hold Back The River' by James Bay spring to mind.
“Although we've only recently launched as a band, we have a lot of material already written and recorded. We've had Away Too Long for a while now and we’re excited to put it out there.
“We work hard on our tunes and it’s all we do. We’ve focused on the art of songwriting and music production so that we can offer the listener something truly homegrown.
“People are often surprised that we’ve created it all ourselves! Away Too Long is a heartbreak tune. If you’ve experienced an ounce of heartbreak in your time, then I'm sure you can relate to it.”
Hailing from the working-class suburbs of Newcastle upon Tyne (UK), BARE ROOTS combine 80s soundscapeswith 90s soulful rock and roll. The band was formed by school mates Anthony Francis (vocals, guitar), Joe Anderson (bass) and Martin Corkhill (drums) who later joined forces with Ollie Petrie (guitar).
Thanks to a wave of early industry hype, the band have already had a busy debut summer having played to a sell-out crowd at Hit the North Festival in Newcastle and are about to make their bow at THIS IS TOMORROW FESTIVAL and Stockton Calling alongside acts such as Jake Bugg, Tom Grennan, Foals, You Me At Six and Nothing But Thieves.
Singer-songwriter Anthony Francis, adds:
“Having recently launched, we’ve been extremely busy.
“We’ve shot music videos, recorded more music and have been rehearsing for our debut live shows.
“Once this single drops we’ll perform a bunch of live dates, particularly our debut headline show and then our festival slots. We’re excited to show the world what we're made of!”
'Away Too Long' is out now and is available on all streaming platforms and all good digital stockists.
