On Friday, Party Cannon brought their brutal death metal party to Glasgow’s Cathouse, and it was every bit the wild ride you’d expect from the band. As part of their ‘UK Vomitor’ tour, the Dunfermline band put on a mental show, celebrating the release of their new album Injuries are Inevitable - a name which could not have been more fitting for the carnage that unfolded.

The openers, Street Soldier and Pint Glass set the scene for what was to come, with similarity comparable mentalness. Pint Glass, in particular, stood out, as they had the crowd hyped - with many attendees wearing the band’s iconic high-visibility vests.

Party Cannon then arrived and stole the show after much anticipation from the crowd. Moshing, crowd surfers, and utter chaos dominated the floor as the band ripped through a blistering setlist. From tracks off the new album to fan favourites, it was a headbanger's paradise. With party hats, beachballs and heavy moshing, the gig was what could only be described as the most chaotic celebration of the genre.

Founded in 2010 in Dunfermline, Party Cannon have carved out their niche in the brutal death metal scene, with their unique blend of sonic brutality and humour - with several adult references and comedic song themes, as well as funny chat throughout the performance. The band has always felt at home in Glasgow, and it was clear from the interaction between them and the audience that this was more than just another gig.

The stand-out moment came towards the end, as the band delivered their crowd-pleaser, ‘Duct Taped to a Flag Pole’. The track, already iconic in the death metal scene with millions of online streams, had the entire sold-out venue jumping. The band fed off the crowd's energy, and it was reciprocated in full.

They closed the night with the final track from Injuries are Inevitable, ‘Human Slime’, an appropriately brutal way to end what had been a thoroughly intense evening. It closed off the evening perfectly, as tired fans left the building for Union Street after another memorable show.
