Nestled in the quaint heart of Halifax, The Piece Hall stood tall to the region's rich history and cultural heritage. Built in the 18th century, not only the structure offers a glimpse into the past, but it also serves as a vibrant hub for the town’s community. While many may not be familiar with its celebrated backdrop, dusk casted a golden tone over the cobbled stones, setting the evening at an accurate tone.

As the lights lowered to reveal their recognisable logo, the crowd erupted into deafening cheers. It became clear that when the Californian legend-makers Korn took to the stage, the exhilaration from their devoted fanbase reached into a frenzy. So much so, it was the kind of commotion that could have powered West Yorkshire for the day! Starting off the proceedings with “Rotting In Vain” that followed into the iconic duo “Hear To Stay” and “A.D.I.D.A.S”, the nature for this no holds-barred 90-minute sonic journey through their iconic discography boomed with the hearts and ears of their viewers.

The visceral involvement heightened further as the collective exploded into “Clown” that grabbed the strong crowd by the throat. As timeless hits “Blind”, “Falling Away From Me,” and “Coming Undone” pounded the air, the vigour of the band, coupled with Jonathan Davis’ flawless delivery was evidence to their metal music brand celebrating three decades. Even the bemused looks from the nu-metal quintet when the “YORKSHIRE!” chants were boomed displayed the collective amusement. “Y’all Want A Single” blasted into the stratosphere and the haunting sounds of “Shoots And Ladders,” highlighted by Davis’ unique bagpipe solo fostered the evening’s cultural spirit. This was followed by the undeniable groove of “Twist” that took many back to 1996 for a hot minute. As the encore of the deafening duo “Divine” and the instantly recognisable “Freak On A Leash” shattered the sky, a moment in time where music transcended from the ordinary.

As the final notes and cheers ricocheted through the venue, Korn had once again revealed that the nu-metal transistors were not only marvels of their genre but were experts of creating treasured moments. It was a night defined by formidable songs, striking visuals, and an undeniable connection between the band and their fans—a reminder of the magic that live performances can create. Simply put, it was perfect.
