Tonight has been a long time coming for Southampton based metalcore band Bury Tomorrow as it’s the largest rooms they have toured and sold out so far. Having just dropped their brand new single “What If I Burn” the same day as the start of this tour and also announcing details of brand new album “Will You Haunt Me, With That Same Patience” due to launch next year, the hype levels were high for Glasgow tonight.

Starting off the night was As Everything Unfolds who set the bar for the energy levels, I unfortunately wasn’t able to catch the start of their set, however they impressed with what I did see, with highlight being album title song “Ultraviolet”. After the sad news of the passing of drummer Jamie Gowers back in August, opening up this tour was a big moment for the band and this showed through their performance.

Up next was Aussie band Thornhill who delivered a very tight sounding set of tracks and also the debut of brand new single “nerv” which sounded fantastic in a live setting. Other highlights were “Casanova” and “Obsessions” which were both favourites with the watching crowd. They were impressive and done a great job on warming up the mosh pits for what’s to come.

Main support for the evening came in the form of another Australian band in Make Them Suffer, to which they took the stage to a rapturous applause. Clearly the Glasgow crowd had high anticipation for this set and rightfully so. The band stormed onto the stage and dove straight into “Ghost of Me” from their latest self titled album and sent the crowd wild and this set the pace for the next 40 minutes. Frontman Sean Harmanis mentioned on stage that they’d just got off their flight and came straight to the venue today, but showed no signs of tiredness as they played a mixture of old and new tracks. Closing with huge single “Doomswitch” I imagine it won’t be long until we see them back on UK soil sooner than later.

Finally the lights dimmed again and Bury Tomorrow took the stage launching into huge single “Abandon Us”. Frontman Dani Winter-Bates enticing the crowd to shout the lyrics back to him and they responded without hesitation. The band took this show to debut a number of songs off last years album “The Seventh Sun” that haven’t been given the live treatment yet like “Recovery?” and my personal favourite “Majesty”. They also debuted previously mentioned brand new single What If I Burn which sounded great, with the rest of the set littered with hits from their back catalogue. If I was to be picky I’d have liked to see them delve deeper into the old songs, but the set we were treated to was cohesive and a statement of what this band are all about. Biggest highlight of the evening was fan favourite “Black Flame” where Dani asked for as many crowd surfers as possible to break the venue record which spurred on chaos. Choosing not to go off stage for the traditional encore, they instead stayed with us and closed off the evening with “Choke”, I am excited to see where 2025 and the upcoming album takes them, as this is a band going from strength to strength and at the absolute peak of their game.
