PALAYE ROYALE // EVENTIM APOLLO, LONDON

PALAYE ROYALE LIVE AT LONDON’S EVENTIM APOLLO

★★★★☆ (4/5)

Openers Starbenders and Yonaka done an amazing job at setting the tone for the night, they both came out full of energy and fully encouraging the life of rock ‘n’ roll! Both acts stage presence was unmatched, they got the crowd involved and Yonaka even had to pause their show for a proposal in the crowd, how cute?!

Amid their UK and EU leg, Palaye Royale played London's Eventim Apollo. This isn’t the first time they have visited London, but there was a large part of the crowd who were returning fans. To have such a dedicated fanbase is something all artists dream of.

The show started with the band behind a ‘Fever Dream’ curtain, just showing their silhouettes whilst a monologue played, the buzz from the audience was immediate and the anticipation was real! Once the curtain had dropped, Palaye Royales name was up in lights (literally), the whole show was giving a circus type vibe, the lights, the outfits and the sparks all played a big part in that.

Palaye definitely know how to put on a show, everything from their outfits to the production was incredible, the multi-levelled stage and the pyrotechnics made for a very lively show. The crowd was having a blast from start to finish, singing along, dancing and even mosh pitting to some songs! They were clearly having the time of their lives.

‘Oblivion’ and ‘Lonely’ were two of their more emotional songs, the crowd were getting their flashlights out and embracing their friends, and even strangers they’d met during the day, moments like that are wonderful to be a part of, and for the band to see the crowd loving on each other has likely made for a memorable night for them too.

Remington and Sebastian both jumped down onto the barrier within the first couple of songs which sent the crowd wild, but it really did spark some extra excitement. The crowd interaction was great, constantly interacting with whoever they could, reaching out to them, singing with them, holding them, whatever they could do, they would do it. Palaye always like to push the boat out when it comes to making shows memorable, towards the end they had floaties set out into the crowd so the band could crowd-surf in a slightly less conventional, but arguably safer way, at least no one ran the risk of getting dropped.

Finishing the show off with balloons and confetti is something they have done often on their ‘Fever Dream’ tour, it sure is one way to go out with a bang. We hope to see Palaye Royale back in London on their next tour, they have a solid fanbase in this city.

Palaye Royale have incredible stage presence and seemed to never run out of energy, it was an incredible show, and the crowd seemingly had an equally incredible night, the endless energy and interactions with the fans sure are a reason people keep coming back to this band. It’s definitely one to remember.
