★★★☆☆ (3.5/5)

Fans of thrash, industrial amd hardcore metal were in their element at Glasgow’s SWG3 as 3 top bands performed for them. Opening up for the main headliners were Higher Power. Hailing from Leeds and seen as leading the way in New Wave of Britsh Hardcore, the band cite Alice In Chains, Metallica, Deftones and Linkin Park among their main influences, and with a setlist comprising mainly of tracks from their recent album 27 Miles Underwater they got the crowd warmed up nicely for the evening ahead.

Next up were main support act The Amity Affliction. Formed in 2003 in Queensland Australia, the band have seven studio albums under their belt and have built up quite the following on the metalcore circuit.

With tracks such as Open Letter, Drag The Lake and Dont Lean On Me, they received a huge ovation from the Glasgow crowd. Their set of 10 songs went down well, with lead vocalist Joel Birch beaming huge smiles, clearly loving playing to this appreciative audience. After a short break and time to clear the stage, it was left to headliners Beartooth to complete the evenings entertainment.

Hailing from Ohio and formed in 2012, Beartooth are a hardcore punk band who are going from strength to strength, with their fan base also clocking up the numbers. Opening with tracks The Lines, Enemy and Hated, there was something for every fan as the band covered tracks from all three previously released albums.

Describing themselves in their blog as ‘really loud’ there was no one present could deny this, as the foundations on the old warehouse were shaking as much as the audience. The band, consisting of Caleb Shomo on vocals, Kamron Bradbury and Zach Huston on guitar, Oshie Bichar on bass with Connor Denis bringing up the rear on drums are in fine form this evening with their Glasgow fans being well catered for. Crowd surfers pop up every few minutes keeping the security busy, but this is just their way of showing how much they love the music.

Afterall, I Have a Problem, Sick Of Me and Disease are huge crowd pleasers in the set list this evening, and with a one track encore of In Between from the 2014 album Disgusting, the evening was over and the foundations of SWG3 could rest again.

None of the crowd leaving could complain about not getting value for money this evening. 3 top bands and all the punk and metal hardcore you could ask for. A great night out for fans of this musical genre, although at times some tracks seem to merge into one. Still, plenty variety on show to keep most folk happy.
