Playing at one of Newcastle’s most intimate venues the Faim definitely impressed the crowd with their heartfelt lyrics and iconic sound. At the half way point of their tour it’s clear they are now experienced and with this being the third time watching them their development has been great to see.

Starting the evening off were Halflives from Paris. With their infectious rock songs, it’s no wonder why the Faim chose them as a support for the UK leg of their world tour. The group have so much potential of becoming well known artists however their set was slightly hindered by an improper mix, which was disappointing as I previously listened to them before the show. Halflives set included some of their most streamed tracks including ‘Crown’, ‘Lone Wolf’ and ‘Mayday.’ Overall their set was average, but I feel they have the potential of putting on a great set.

Second up were the duo Chapel with Carter Hardin on guitar/vocals and Kortney Grinwis on drums. Their short and snappy sounded a lot better compared to the previous act as there was a different sound engineer. After not hearing of them beforehand I was pleasantly surprised at theamount of energy the duo had. The group class their music as ‘music our partners would like.’ If the duo continue to produce their music to thesame quality they will easily be a commercial success. I enjoyed their set and can expect for them to be back soon.

Finally, the main reason for the crowd to be here was for the Faim! Bringing the biggest crowd I’ve seen in a long time to THINK TANK?, The Faimhave gained worldwide fame pretty quick and you can see why! The Faim have a unique sound which is why they have exploded into the limelight. After going a minor change in the line up with their guitarist and drummer leaving for person reasons this change has been for the better.

Starting their set off in style was with one of the tracks that led to their fame ‘Saints of The Sinners.’ This track is easily one of the best they’ve released, with it’s clear Panic at the Disco influence it’s no wonder it’s caused them to develop a cult like fan base. Their second track of the evening was ‘My Heart Needs To Breathe.’ This heartfelt song was great to hear live and they had all the crowd singing the lyrics back to them. Before starting the third track of the evening singer Josh Raven addressed the crowd saying, ‘I’ve always wanted to create a safe space for you to enjoy yourself and I feel like we’ve achieved that.’ The group then played ‘When It Comes.’

Skipping to later in their set the group played some tracks which have yet to be released with tracks such as ‘Fire’, ‘Where The River Runs’ and ‘Amelie.’ These new songs sounded great and hopefully they are released soon. As the night drew to an end the four piece ended the night with thecommercial success ‘Summer Is a Curse’ which was a please to hear. As the group disappeared the chants of ‘one more song’ began and the group returned with a new song called ‘Ecstacy.’ Overall, I enjoyed their set, and hope to see them playing bigger venues soon. The Faim are currently touring the rest of the UK and soon head to Europe!
