The crowd went crazy for them, by the fourth song of the night ‘Ultraviolet’ a small mosh pit of lads had begun. They pushed each other around and shouted the lyrics like their lives depended on it in an excited frenzy.

The Amazon’s have a really effortlessly cool vibe about them as a band. The lead singer Matt, has long orange hair and he donned an 80’s style ringer t-shirt with a flame font and leather jacket whilst the other members wore converse and jeans. Their style makes them quirky and unique, with a hint of retro about them which made The Hare and Hounds the perfect venue choice for their gig: a small and sweaty room that was filled from wall to wall in a music pub in Kings Heath.

The Amazon’s put themselves on the map with their 2017 self titled album release. Their singles included ‘Junk Food’ which they chose to close their short but sweet setlist with. Their indie rock sound is infectious with repetitive guitar riffs and catchy hooks that you can’t help but dance and sing along to. I’ve seen The Amazon’s a couple of times now, and they have only grown on me more and more. I look forward to hearing more new music from these guys this year and having the pleasure of attending another show of theirs soon. The band have been described many a time recently as a group to watch and in my experience rightly so, so if you’ve not listened to them yet, it’s time to check them out.
