Catfish and the Bottlemen performed at Aberdeen’s new cashless arena, P&J Live. The Aberdeen gig was one of only two new Scottish dates – the other being SSE Hydro – which the band have added to their tour. They are touring on the back of their new album, The Balance, which was released in April. The UK and Europe Tour started in February this year and will finish mid November in Leeds.

The Indie Rock band released just 2 days before the Aberdeen show that the Scottish band Dancing on Tables would be their support act for the Aberdeen and Glasgow gig. The Dunfermline band includes Robbie McSkimming, Callum Thomas, Hamish Finlayson, Gregor Stobie and the youngest member Reece Dobbin. The lads were about to hit the stage for a gig in Liverpool when they received the news about supporting for Catfish and the Bottlemen.

DANCING ON TABLES PERFORMING AT ABERDEEN’S ‘P&J: LIVE’ - 07.11.2019

Dancing on Tables are not a stranger to the Aberdeen crowd and have recently been playing in many local venues. They opened with their song ‘Postcards’ and brought lots of energy to the stage. The crowd loved having a Scottish accent on the stage and you could even hear the accent through their singing, bringing a unique twist to the evening. They continued to play a few hit songs such as ‘Body’ and ‘Oh’ that is played on the Scottish Water adverts. They are starting to have a strong presence in Scotland and are finally getting the recognition they deserve.

Dancing on Tables singer Robbie spoke through their performance how they were so happy to be up on stage supporting Catfish and the Bottelmen. Robbie has also lived in Aberdeen before for 4 years so was more than comfortable bringing Dancing on Tables to the Aberdeen music scene which the fans definitely appreciated. Dancing on Tables will also be the support for the Glasgow SSE Hydro tour date with the Indie Rock band on the 8th of November and so they can continue to perform to lots of their Scottish fans.

The Welsh band Catfish and the Bottlemen are one of few bands to be performing at the new P&J Live Arena. This tour date gave lots of local fans a great chance to see the new arena and experience it at its best. This arena is giving the North East a huge change to get bigger bands and create a strong music scene. Catfish opened the evening with their famous single ‘Longshot’ and continued to perform many well known new and old songs.

Van the lead singer is well known for using the whole stage and getting the crowds up and singing. With the floor of the arena being standing, it was easy for him to interact and feed from the crowd’s energy. Van put so much passion and excitement into all his performances and the Aberdeen one was definitely one of them. He mentioned the last time they performed in Aberdeen was at the local Tunnels venue in 2014 which often hosts up and coming artists. Since 2014 they have definitely gained a bigger fan base so it was only natural that they performed in the new arena making is an amazing experience for everyone. The band continued to play some very strong old song from the album ‘The Ride’ and ‘The Balcony’ like ‘Twice’, ‘Caccoon’ and ‘7’.
