★★★★☆ (4/5)

Sunday night at the Galvanisers Yard saw not one but 3 rappers for the crowd’s delight, 2 decent supports for the top man on the bill, London’s Stephen Manderson aka Professor Green.

Dream McLean was first on to warm up the crowd. His approach to rap music comprises Garage, Grime, Drum & Bass and is influenced by the likes of Wu Tang Clan, Nas and Jay Z. His tunes went down well with the ever growing crowd, performing songs like ‘Network’ and ‘Sloe Gin’, and the future looks good for the young man from Essex, definitely one to keep an eye out for in the future.

Second support act on tonight were Everyone You Know. They are Rhys Kirkby-Cox and Harvey Kirkby, they're half brothers, sharing a dad but not a mum, Harvey produces the beats and Rhys crafts the lyrics and the young duo are joined on stage with Paige Proctor on drums. The band have previous with Professor Green, having collaborated on his recent Matters Of The Heart track as joint producers. They say they are influenced by the record collections of their parents, drawn from the best of R&B, vocal house, Britpop, east coast hip hop, rave and jungle, and highlights of this can be heard on their music this evening.

Bang on 9pm the lights were lowered, the back ground music started and Professor Green took to the stage. The the multi platinum-selling rapper was all smiles and looks delighted to be back in Glasgow, as he opens with tunes like Got It All, Upper Clacton Dance and his reworking of the INXS belter Need You Tonight. The atmosphere in the huge old warehouse was electric, the crowd really getting into the music as Green continued thru his 24 song strong setlist, Dont Piss Me Off, Active, Oh My God, Astronaut and Photographs, this time tho minus Rag And Bone man.

Matters Of The Heart is the title track of Pro Green’s newest recordings, and looks like a return to form for the heavilly tattoo’d frontman, only recently back to work after a seizure caused a serious neck injury. Tonights performance showed he has no lasting effects from that incident, as he bounced around the stage, clearly having a great time.

Back On The Market, Avalon, Monster and Lullaby were given an airing before his 2011 work with Emelie Sande Read All About It closed the show, giving the Glasgow crowd one last mass karaoke for the night, providing backing vocals for the track, which carried on out into the cold November evening.

This was a great show for fans of Rap and hip hop music. 2 bright, promising up and coming artists and a guy at the top of his game. An evening of top quality tunes, whats not to like?
