SIGRID // O2 ACADEMY, LEEDS
Norwegian pop singer Sigrid brought smiles and warm energy to a full house at the O2 Academy Leeds.
★★★★★ (5/5)
Her support ‘Ider’ have come on leaps and bounds since meeting at university. They were the perfect support, with their vibrant pop performance, playing some of their hits; ‘You've Got Your Whole Life Ahead Of You Baby’, ‘Saddest Generation’ and ‘Mirror’. Keep an eye (and ear) out for them in the future!
Sigrid doesn’t dress like your typical pop star, but her plain white T-Shirt, jeans and trainers are testament to her down to earth, lovely character.
Having played her first ever headline arena show in Dublin earlier in the week, she’s come a long way very quickly and she certainly deserves it! She opened her set with two tracks from her latest album ‘Sucker Punch’, - ‘Mine Right Now’ and ‘In Vein’.
The 23 year old commanded the stage throughout with her loving smile and energetic dance moves. The crowd fed off her energy throughout the night. She played two of her big hits midway through the set - ‘High Five’ and ‘Don’t Kill My Vibe’. The latter certainly didn’t kill crowd’s vibe! Before performing it she said how delighted she was to seeing such a wide range of ages in the audience.
The night took a slightly emotional twist when she played her song ‘Dynamite’, which is based on her hometown. A spotlight shone down on her as she played the piano to a pitch-black room.
With no encore she made a big finale with arguably her two biggest hits, ‘Strangers’ and ‘Don’t Feel Like Crying’. This was the perfect end to a perfect night and left fans smiling from ear to ear.
