Having took a break from the music scene for quite a while, British born, Aberdeen raised  singer-songwriter Emeli Sandé takes to the stage tonight for a sold out show at Edinburgh's Usher Hall, to deliver a breathtaking performance of songs from her brand new album,”Real Life” (released in September this year) along with some of her well known past chart topping hits.

With the spotlight on Emeli Sandé sat at the piano dressed in a classic black silk dress, with her band behind her and 4 backup singers at the opposite side of the stage, the show opens with one of her new songs “Survivor” a powerful soul-filled R&B type ballad about reflecting on her past life and being thankful for finding strength, positivity and love in life even after stormy times, she sings it with so much passion and real emotion that the audience are captivated right from the start.

Promoting inner-strength, self-worth, loving yourself and others seems to be the general message from Emeli Sandé throughout the show and of her new songs performed tonight from the “Real Life” album, this is portrayed well, with a gospel tinged mix of soulful ballads such as “Human” and a couple of, mood lifting, upbeat ones like “Extraordinary Being” and “Shine”.

Emeli impressed the audience with her remarkable vocal ranges with every song, not only with the new stuff but also with past well known songs such as “hurts” from 2016 chat topping album,  “Long Live the Angels” and “My Kind Of Love” from 2012 “Our Version of Events” by singing some chorus parts without any music or backing singers.

Towards the end of the end of the show, Sandé interacts with audience thanking her followers and talks about her own journey in life, and how we all sometimes play role of the clown in certain situations that we are not really being our authentic self until like herself coming to a good understanding of yourself and appreciating your own self-worthiness as she has done herself in life for the song  “Clown” before lifting the what id say was a spiritual kind of vibe for her final song “ Next to me” that had everybody out their seats dancing, singing along, clapping and cheering bringing a very uplifting end to a great night.
