FEEDER // BARROWLAND BALLROOM, GLASGOW
FEEDER ARE ON FIRE AS THEY TOUR ‘TALLULAH’ WITH GLASGOW GIG AT BARROWLAND BALLROOM
★★★★☆ (4/5)
Welsh rockers Feeder are on tour again, this time to promote their latest record, album number ten entitled ‘Tallulah’. Formed in Newport in 1994 by ex Reel member Grant Nicholas on guitar and vocals with Taka Hirose on bass, the band are not long finished their 2017 Greatest Hits tour and have been busy since, writing the material for this years new record, most of which would be played this evening.
First up tho were support Silvercoast from Inverness. The group are Aaron Murray - Vocals, Guitars, Keys, Kyle Mack - Guitars, Backing Vocals, Michael Cappie - Drums & Percussion and Jason Simpson on Bass. The alternative rockers certainly impressed the crowd with their chiming, harmonising guitars and powerful lyrics. On this showing after their short set, they are certainly a band to keep an eye out for, they have the world at their feet, very impressive stuff from the young band.
And now Feeder. The atmosphere was electric as the lights went down and the intro music came over the PA, and as the band took to the stage the packed Glasgow crowd gave the band a huge reception. Opening with ‘Youth’ and ‘Lost & Found’, the audience were in fine voice as third track, 2005 hit ‘Feeling The Moment’ was played. A magnificent piece of music, and recognisable from several tv shows and commercials. The set carried on with another couple from Tallulah, ‘Shapes and Sounds’ and ‘Daily Habit’. The new album has been out for a number of months now, and has been widely received with critical acclaim, some reviews saying its the bands best work in a number of years. The Glasgow audience certainly agreed and received the new music warmly.
After a well deserved break the band returned to the stage for a 2 track encore, ‘Blue Sky Blue’ and ‘Just a Day’ finished the evening. A decent evening of alternative rock music, the paying public would not have left disappointed and the band seemed to have a great time too. The bigger hits sound great and the new music sees the band back on form and the crowd loved it. Feeder are 25 years old, heres to the next 25!
