The clock struck 8pm on a Thursday night in the heart of Glasgow in one of our amazing and well loved venues known as the Barrowlands. The hall was slightly busy with people still piling in and retrieving their drinks from the bar as the first act of tonight Lucy Rose entered the stage. From the reaction of the crowd not many people were aware of who this women is or her music as there was a slight cheer and a clap.

Lucy said a brief hello and got right into her first song of the set which was a relaxed and chilled out vibe, her voice was soft and really calming to listen to. After her second song is when she had a little chat to the crowd and explained she would be singing another 6 songs and most of them were going to be quite depressing, to which there was a slight muffled laughter from the crowd. By the time the middle of her set came around the crowd was mainly filled and had definitely warmed to her and giving her cheers and claps after each song.

As she came to the end of her set she done a short and sweet speech thanking everyone for listening and letting them know where to purchase her music if they enjoyed what they heard which was followed by cheers and claps from a sold out hall that Lucy herself claimed she wasn’t used too.

After Lucy’s set the crowd moved around fetching more beverages in time for the wonderful Passenger to enter the stage. Along came 9pm and right on time the background music came to a halt, the lights dimmed and out came the man himself welcomed with a roar of cheers and clapping sporting a huge big smile across his face. After a small introduction he got right into his first song of the night.

A few songs in he took a pause to chat to the crowd, even making it known that he is fully paying attention to the people in front of him he laughed and joked with a few punters in the crowd, during his speech like Lucy he mentioned how most of his songs are depressing with slight laughter, the crowd proved how much they loved him by cheering, clapping and screaming. Throughout his set the crowd got louder and louder without being prompt they would sing back every lyric to his music, stomping their feet and enjoying every minute of it.

Although is songs aren’t that upbeat, his stage presence was absolutely fantastic, he definitely knows how to connect with a crowd and put on a great set. The crowd either watched in silence amazed by the man singing in front of them, or they cheered and sang back to him which was a really amazing atmosphere to whitness.

The tune to one of his most famous song “Let Her Go” ( which just recently hit 2 MILLION views!) began and the crowd erupted into cheers, stomping, clapping and screaming, proving it was a hit with them too. Throughout the song you could hardly hear Passenger singing his own song because of how loud the crowd sang which was absolutely amazing to listen too, it even gave me goosebumps!

His final song arrived and again he chatted with the crowd, speaking about being anxious and how he just wants us all to forget being anxious, sad or angry and just be 2000 people in a room who loves music. As it was the end of his set the full crowd went all out and stomped their feet, singing and cheering the whole way through the song, giving him an amazing ending to a phenomenal set.
