Although only playing to a room which was less than half full – Berkshire’s own Haux still managed to effortlessly captivate his Scottish fans with emotive and powerful moments of music.
After discovering the American artist through a Spotify playlist, I was more than happy to experience a live show and find out if the same raw passion could be communicated on stage, which it definitely was. With a huge neon infrastructure at the back of the stage with the artist's name lit up, Haux wowed the crowd with each song. Becoming a 4-piece when on stage, the instrumentation was incredibly tight with, at times, an excellent blend of chaos and tranquillity in the performance.
Each song seemed to flow effortlessly into one another without hesitation, and the soft and calm vocals work time and time again with the dreaminess of the music created. Support act Rosie Carney joined Haux on stage to provide some beautiful harmonies for a number of songs, whilst other support act Henry Jamison joined both on stage for an exquisite rendition of Cigarettes After Sex's original song ‘K’. The audience watched in silence as these musicians radiated their talent to all.
As the set continued, each song just displayed more and more emotion from Haux and it’s rather sad that the venue couldn’t have been full to the brim for more to witness the talent from this artist. A serene night full of calm and beautiful voices echoing round one of Glasgow’s iconic venues.
