Made up of Nathan Lambert (guitar and vocals), Rich Scholes (guitar and vocals), Tristan Maxted (bass and vocals) and Euan Leslie (drums), four-piece act The Shades kicked off their first major UK headline tour in Glasgow at the O2 ABC 2. Opening the show was presenter Luke Franks, who seamlessly filled gaps in the show by interacting with the crowd. He also introduced the support acts: fellow pop quartet Hanover, and a new Scottish group in GSide. They both did an amazing job warming up the crowd, getting them ready for The Shades to take the stage.

This Glasgow show was a milestone moment for the band - Not only was it their first headline show north of the border, but it was also their first show since the recently announced departure of old drummer Mike Bennett. The band’s new drummer, Euan was given a warm welcome by the fans regardless, and was made to feel at home on stage. This was also a hometown show for Euan, making his first appearance with the band just that little bit more special.

The band played fan favourites such as “24 Hours A Day”, “Back To Your Place” and “Trouble” always crowd pleasers, while showing a more mature style and approach to their music in the new songs they played. A stand out song for fans was “Breathe”, showing a complete contrast to the bands usual upbeat, cheesy pop style of music. I think this is the start of a new era of music for The Shades, which is more appealing and relevant in today's music scene and should see them achieve even greater success.
