★★★★☆

Joined by her opening acts Ghostcar and Kiddy Smile, ex-Gossip singer Beth Ditto made a stop at the Junction, Cambridge in support of her debut solo album, Fake Sugar. While both have evident departures in sound and style from Ditto - Kiddy Smile most notably incorporating much more of a house/dance sound, both bands were exceptional when it came to holding the audience's attention while performing.

After the opening acts, Ditto entered the stage with her backing band who all performed extremely well, being able to adapt according to Ditto’s whims. While mostly sticking to the songs on her album Fake Sugar and material from her old band, the group also played their version of Red Hot Chilli Peppers ‘Under the Bridge’ as well as a short rendition of ‘Let it Go’ from the Frozen soundtrack. These songs did not interrupt the show, showcasing Ditto's vocal range as well as the band's improvisational skills to great effect. The audience at Cambridge Junction seemed quickly enthralled with Dittos ever present charisma and talkativeness, and throughout her set a large majority of the audience were dancing along and singing along.
