Scottish band Neon Waltz have not been idle since releasing their debut album in August last year. Their touring has been constant in support of Strange Hymns and they even surprised fans with a new EP back in February. I saw them in a tiny pub in Bathgate only a few months ago and tonight they headline Glasgow's most iconic venue, the King Tuts.

Frontman Jordan Shearer does his usual blank stare when he walks on the stage. The crowd cheer as album favourite "Perfect Frame" is played to open the set, with the John O'Groats six-piece following up the opener with a diverse set that blends together the dreamy and delicate with blistering indie rock.

The always well received "Sundial" features in the set along with brilliant slow burner "Heavy Heartless". Shearer thanks the crowd for helping them sell out the King Tuts for the first time, whilst the packed room cheers. Although the rise of Neon Waltz has been gradual, attending one of their gigs confirms that the group are onto something special.

The crowd are now treated to the melancholic "Schoolhouse" from the newest EP, Bring Me to Light. The airy sounding single shows the extent of Shearer's vocal abilities, and another side to the band. The bright sounding title track "Bring Me To Light" is filled with optimism and warms the sold out venue perfectly.

Although Neon Waltz are not necessarily an easy-listening band, their biggest single "Dreamers" always manages to galvanise a crowd. The message of doing what you believe in resonates and it is impossible to imagine the track ever not being in their set.

The first time I saw Neon Waltz was in a field in Aviemore with a crowd of about 20 people and tonight they have sold out the same venue which Oasis were signed in. The King Tuts gig tonight feels like a milestone. The gradual rise and evolution has been brilliant to watch -although the days of seeing them in small pubs sadly seem to be over.
