The main act of the evening was 23 year old Adam French. Hailing originally from London, the singer has a style not too dissimilar from Ed Sheeran, and perhaps David Gray from another era. Up front on vocals with a guitar, and backed on stage by another guitar, bass drums and keyboards, his songs come from the heart and he delivers them with passion and enthusiasm. "Weightless", "My Addiction", "Skin Deep" were all soulful tunes, with meaningful lyrics.
One criticism is maybe the setlist could be mixed up with some songs that have a bit more oomph, or throw in a cover here or there, as I felt at times too often one song merged into another. Those in the crowd who were familiar with Adam's music enjoyed seeing him up close and personal, and I'm sure those not so familiar will be looking out for him in the future again. A very talented young man, as a singer, song writer and musician, aptly backed by his band. A successful night in Edinburgh and another stepping stone on the road to stardom for Adam French.
