Opening the show tonight is the magnificent Ella Eyre. For a relatively small girl she packs a huge voice and takes her set at the arena in her stride.

Highlights of her set come in the form of  hit single "Waiting All Night", "LOV(E)" and her amazing cover of "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off".

Fingers crossed we get a headline tour from Ella in the near future, when we do it's one not to be missed!

Four giant curtains drop from the back of The SSE Hydro to form a cage like structure around a second stage, which we soon discover will be where The Script are starting their set from this evening.

The lights go out and the curtains drop to reveal the band on the B stage at the back of the arena as they launch into "Superheroes". They remain on this stage to perform "Rock The World" and "Paint The Town Green", the latter complete with canons firing green confetti at the end of the song.

Rather than trying to sneakily make their way across to the main stage, the band head through the crowd, much to the enjoyment of all present.

One thing which strikes us right away is how interactive The Script are with their audience. They thrive off their energy and take every opportunity to get them involved.

We get an acoustic start to "The Man Who Can't Be Moved", with frontman Danny O'Donoghue perching himself on the edge of the stage and leaning out to get even closer to the audience before the full band kick in with him.

New tune "Arms Open" showcases Danny's outstanding vocals, with him removing his jacket and launching it into the crowd at the end of the song.

After superb run through's of "For The First Time" and "If You Ever Come Back", the band disappear from the main stage and re appear on Level 1 of the arena's seating section. From here they deliver a superb acoustic set, before guitarist Mark Sheehan and drummer Glen Power head back on over to the main stage and Danny continues to roam about the upper levels of the crowd.

The main set is finished off with "Rain" which sees various audience members opening up umbrellas in line with the theme of the song.

It's not long before the band are back out again to perform an encore of "No Good In Goodbye", the absolutely superb "Breakeven" and "Hall Of Fame" to round off what is a tremendous evening.

The Script are back in Glasgow on 29th June to play at TRNSMT festival, so make sure you catch them there!
