THE DAMNED // LIQUID ROOMS, EDINBURGH
The Damned still prove punk rock is still alive and kicking at their Edinburgh Liquid Room’s show.
★★★★☆
The Damned hit the stage with “We are so nice” which got the crowd going, the venue although small and smelly! Is brilliant for this kind of music where you can hear the vocals which is important when it’s the Gorgeous Dave Vanian singing!
Born to kill .....was sung next another great song, Dave then spoke a little about the mess in London with the government and went in to sing. Democracy! Again crowd going mad. Then one of my all time favourite Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde just love the way this songs lyrics are perfect for Dave Vanian’s voice.
Standing on the edge of tomorrow was up next this one is off the new Evil Spirits album again a good song you can Dance and sing along too. Wait for the black out....crowd loved. Always a favourite perfect for Mr Dave Vanian’s theatrical vampire look. Lively arts......another one from the Black Album which is my all time favourite album.
Silly kids games..... here is when everyone starts to jump around daft and have a brilliant time.Devil in Disguise .....another one from the new album Evil Spirits.Stranger in town.... from the best of The Damned.Alone again or love.....other newer song which was filmed in the desert and Mr Dave looked rather sexy!. The History of the world (part 1)....another one of my total favourites again sung with great passion.
I don’t care.......brilliant ballad again Dave Vanian has the perfect voice for. Love song ......, just for you here’s a love song!! From The Damned, machine Gun Etiquette. Neat Neat Neat..... one that makes the crowd go right back in time absolutely brilliant,After the went off, the crowd went mad till they came back out to which they sung New Rose...... fantastic song again the crowd loved it and Monty Oxymoron went daft did a wee dance that sent the crowd daft, Monty was great on the keyboard with his mad hair and funny faces he’s great to watch. You can tell New Rose is definitely one of his favourites. Was a great night, some bands should stop at a certain age but not The Damned always great. Dave Vanian always a great front man and very easy on the eye, although Captain Sensible was rather quiet he still played his part, pinch always smiling playing his guitar which he can play very well, drummer Paul Gray kept the place bouncing can’t wait to see them again.
