KYLE FALCONER // ST. LUKE'S, GLASGOW
Kyle Falconer played his first solo gig in Glasgow and the fans were loving every second of it.
★★★★☆
The former frontman of Scottish Indie Band The View was supported by Billy Mitchell; also a Dundonian singer/songwriter. Billy Mitchell was a great choice for support as there are similarities in his and Kyle’s sound which made the transition between their sets sound quite natural. Billy Mitchell has been the support for Kyle Falconer at previous gigs and is definitely a name to keep an eye on.
When Kyle Falconer walked onto the stage the crowd went wild. The fan base seemed primarily built up of loyal fans who have most likely followed Kyle Falconers music for years although there were a few newly acquainted fans.
Kyle started off his set with ‘Poor Me’ which sat really well with the crowd. He then went onto playing more songs from the ‘No Thank You’ album. Kyle’s Debut Solo Album is one thathas had mixed opinions by fans of The View, although I personally enjoy his new album. It still has it similarities to the music he created with The View but his sound has matured andit’s nice to be able to see this transformative path Kyle has taken.
Kyle then went on to playing some songs from his time in The View, such as ‘House ofQueue’s’. Kyle then created a more intimate setting for the audience by playing ‘Tacky Tattoo’. After the gig ended, fans began to chant ‘One More Tune’ which overall gained aresult of Kyle coming back on stage and finishing off the night with ‘Gem of A Bird’.
In-between songs Kyle had a bit of chat and banter with the audience before ending on a nice note by shaking fans hands as he returned back stage.
Fans and Myself are all keen to hear new music from Kyle Falconer and hope for plenty more gigs in future.
