Just two months after the release of their first studio album in over a decade, the 90’s indie favourites ‘Shed Seven’ don’t seem to have aged. Edinburgh’s Liquid rooms was packed for the sell-out gig by the Yorkshire band as they embarked on their rescheduled impressive tour dates that have seen the band travel up and down the UK and even take in Europe and US. The band return to Scotland’s Capital to play their rescheduled sold-out show to 2,000 eager fans at Liquid Rooms. The band rescheduled dates including Edinburgh show last year due to Witter having a throat infection.

Last year the group released the critically-acclaimed ‘Instant Pleasures’, and they show started with their rocking new album opener ‘Room In My House’, which got the show off to a blast. And from then on the hour and a half-long performance – which was preceded by an enjoyable opening set by Foggy City Orphan. So close to an album release singer Rick Witter and the group could have easily stuck to a set dominated by what could turn out to be one of their most successful releases of their career.

But no, as they blasted out the best of their back-catalogue with a set list including favourites ‘Going For Gold’, ‘Chasing Rainbows’, ‘Bully Boy’, ‘Getting Better’, and ‘Where Have You been Tonight’ it definitely for sure crowd got a performance for making-up for rescheduling the gig last year.

The band also tipped into The Stone Roses to the delight the audience with a guitar solo from the Manchester’s favourite ‘I Am The Resurrection’. The set concluded with ‘Going for Gold’ before returning to the stage to stage give the crowd an encore playing another accomplished productions from the new album, ‘It’s Not Easy’, and then finished with a huge sing-a-long to ‘Chasing Rainbows’. Shed Seven sounded and acted like a band back on the up after the release of new album in over six-teen years. The album has topped the indie charts. They are festival regulars and performances like this show they’re riding the crest of a 90s revival that is getting them a whole new audience.

The band set to return to Scotland this summer at perform on the main-stage at this year’s TRNSMT festival in Glasgow at Glasgow Green on Saturday 30th June, playing alongside headliner ‘Liam Gallagher’ and other acts including… COURTEENERS, WOLF ALICE, J HUS, KREPT x KONAN and GERRY CINNAMON.
