In the middle of the final tour to promote debut album "Nothing I write You Can Change What You've Been Through", pop punk five piece Trash Boat are here for a final hurrah before locking themselves away to write album two.
With the venue filling up after an early door opening, local Glasgow rockers Toy Mountains open the show with a solid performance that went down well. After a successful tour at the beginning of the year supporting Palm Reader, the band showcase songs off latest EP "I Swore I'd Never Speak of This Again" to which the crowd responded by singing the words back with intent. Clearly popular among the early arrivers, I'm sure Toy Mountainswill be aiming for the larger stages next year.
Next up were Homebound from the south of England who were a band I hadn't heard much about until this tour. They showed exactly what they are all about from the get go, with new tracks from their EP "The Mould You Build Yourself Around" sounding particularly excellent. Frontman Charlie Boughton was full of energy and worked the crowd to make sure everyone was having a good time and the whole band seemed on top of their game.
With this only being their second time in the UK, you'd think Broadside would have had to build their fanbase a bit more for singalongs, but this was proved not to be the case though as the Americans had plenty of them throughout their set. Songs like from new album "Paradise" sounded upbeat and exactly what you want to dance to and older tracks like "Storyteller" and fan favourite "Coffee Talk" receiving a very warm welcome. I'm sure it won't be long before Broadside are making the flight back over to these shores.
The tension was high for the main event and when Trash Boat finally hit the stage the adrenaline was let loose. Knocking out a bunch of tracks from their debut album to which the crowd reacted to in a frenzy of moshing and crowd surfing, it was clear we were in for a special end to the evening. Older tracks like "Boneless" slot into the set perfectly, and new tracks like "Tring Quarry" and "How Selfish I Seem" had plenty of crowd surfs and stage dives. Tobi Duncan was full to the brim of energy and executed his vocals perfectly which was even more apparent when taking to the stage by himself for an encore of "Brave Face". Rejoined by his band for closing track "Strangers", Trash Boat go out with a bang.
