WHEATUS // THE TUNNELS, ABERDEEN

WHEATUS PLAY ABERDEEN'S TUNNELS

WHEATUS PERFORMING THROUGHOUT THE UK OVER MAY-JUNE 2017

American rock band Wheatus, famous for their hit "Teenage Dirtbag", the band will be performing at various venues across the UK this summer, after touring alongside Busted last year.

Band member Brendan B Brown, who is the only member of the line-up remaining, did not only perform with the main act Wheatus but also with the support act Mike Doughty.

Wheatus' debut album was released 17 years ago, but according to Brendan, it seems longer.

The UK & Irish tour sees the band playing almost every night from April 27, when the tour starts off in Cork, right through to June 5, when they finish up in Tunbridge Wells at The Forum. Wheatus are currently taking a new direction with their music, working on their seventh album, which Brendan hopes will be released around Christmas this year.

The Tunnels setlist was a mix between the fans song choices and the bands. It was a nice touch as it felt like the crowd was appreciated and they clearly wanted to ensure the fans had a great night. Only three songs in and Brendan was already in the crowd performing. He went into the crowd again during the night and just took a nice walk past everyone. It was a brilliant atmosphere of fans all age. Brendan asked if there was anyone in the crowd who wasn’t born when their first album was released. Those old enough to remember the early noughties sang away with much newer fans. Regardless of age, they all knew Teenage Dirtbag. When the concert began to close the kept referring to ‘T Time’ which was of course Teenage Dirtbag. Wheatus performing this song was as good as expected. It was performed effortlessly with a different line up, sounded just as perfect as the original we all know.

If you missed your chance to see Wheatus live they did mention that they have plans to be back in Scotland touring for a 20 year anniversary of their first release. They are also still to perform the rest of the UK & Ireland tour so keep an eye out.
