Taking the stage to a hall a fraction full (possibly down to the rare sight of sunshine in the otherwise rainy Glasgow), Manchester's PINS don't let the lack of bodies present phase them. The bands style of electro/indie rock captures the audience present, and as more people enter you can feel the atmosphere grow.

Lead singer Faith Holgate moves about the stage like she owns the place, with her sultry vocal tones resounding around the room. With a set full of catchy choruses, PINS well and truly get the crowd warmed up for tonight's headliners and are ones to look out for in the coming months.

Maximo Park take the stage and kick off with the first offering from "Risk to Exist", the hook laden "What Did We Do to You to Deserve This?" From the offset the Glasgow crowd show off their dance moves, using the outpouring of energy coming from ever charismatic frontman Paul Smith as their fuel.

Tonight's set consists of a great mix of new and old, spanning the bands entire back catalogue. One of the biggest reactions of the night comes when Paul announces it's "time to get the zimmer frame out for this oldie one last time" and the band kick into the stomping chart hit "Our Velocity". There are quips about the size of the ABC's disco ball, and how it's the biggest in Europe (as Paul also adds, "while we are still in Europe!") as it is used to illuminate the hall full of people dancing to their hearts content.

Main set closer "Going Missing" also heralds a huge reaction from the near capacity crowd, and when the band leave the stage they are soon back to chants of "Maximo, Maximo, Maximo." Never ones to shy away from an encore, they fire through the hits with "Parisian Skies", "Apply Some Pressure" and finish the night off with newbie "Get High (No, I Don't)"

There's still plenty of time to catch the rest of this tour, and I would strongly urge that you do!
