★★★☆☆ (3.5/5)

After releasing their single Happiness earlier this year, British rockers Deaf Havana hit Edinburgh on the 21st November as part of their UK tour promoting the single. With them were support bands, Decade and Black Foxxes who both played tight and well written sets.

The Queens Hall, though not normally a typical rock concert venue, fared well as a venue for the bands. The well mixed sound was carried around the hall with ease. The crowd, although quiet, slowly began to fill the bottom of the hall before Deaf Havana made their appearance.

The band opened with their tune Fever and played a tight, thirteen song long set with a three song encore. Every band member had a good show as they slickly rattled through the set. However halfway through, the similar sounding songs became difficult to distinguish from each other. Yet nevertheless the crowd continued to loyally sing along to each and every cheesy lyric, and relentlessly chanted once Deaf Havana left the stage to ensure they returned for an encore.

On a whole, Deaf Havana’s performance was good, but perhaps a little predictable. The light show however, really added to the performance and helped create a buzz to the atmosphere. Deaf Havana provided a tight performance, proving they can play live just as they sound on their studio albums and singles.
