After releasing their third album Spitting Image in June, The Strypes hit Glasgow as part of their Great Expectations single tour.

From the small town of Cavan to supporting Arctic Monkeys on their 2013 tour, the last few years certainly have been busy for the young rock band. Just a few hours before their Glasgow show, the band tweeted that they will now be supporting Liam Gallagher in Belfast on the 30th of October.

The Garage was full of lively fans who The Strypes engaged with exceptionally; having them clap and sing along with most songs, before having the whole room crouch down to the floor mid-song.

The band squeezed as many of their songs, new and old, into their hour long set as they could – accompanied by a well-received cover of Psycho Killer by The Talking Heads.

The Strypes admitted to have been running late to the show after having to return to Ireland beforehand. Luckily a friend of theirs agreed to fly them back to Glasgow in his own six-seater plane. The band posted a photo of them next to the small plane on social media hours before the gig with the caption “What no duty free???”.

The Strypes played a very tight and energetic set, with props going to lead guitarist Josh McClorey who appeared to play with ease as he stunned the crowd with his guitar tricks, licks and solos. The band finished off the show with a two song encore to please the wanting crowd.

Before they leave the stage they bait the crowd saying, “We’ve got an EP coming out soon, we think next month”. Make sure to look out for it.
