Clean Bandit, a British electronic group from Cambridge. Consisting of Grace Chatto, and Brothers Jack and Luke Patterson. On Sunday the 29th of October the threesome eventually came onto the stage around 8:45pm after the support act pulled out last minute. Fans queued from 6pm to get into the venue and anxiously waited for the band after having a near 2 hour wait. They played The Barrowlands in Glasgow which is considered an iconic venue by many. It has a capacity of 1900 however the venue was looking quite empty with only about 1000 tickets sold.
The stage set up was brilliant with multiple levels and mirrors reflecting the lights in every direction across the venue. Having the raised platforms really added character to the stage and provided a great viewing experience from every point in the venue.
When Clean Bandit took the stage, they did it with a bang. The lights went dark and all you could hear were the screams from the fans. The band came out and instantly began interacting with the crowd getting them jumping and singing along to their hits. Grace was joined on stage by Yasmin Green and Kirsten Joy to add to the vocal experience.
They played songs ‘Stronger’, ‘Sure Do’ and ‘A&E’ as well as ‘Symphony’. Halfway through the first few songs the band fired confetti and had impressive pyrotechnics making the show an absolute spectacle to witness. The confetti rained down on the crowd as they started to sing along with the band.
Clean Bandit incorporated a wide range of instruments from violins to saxophones. The three singers moved in-sync with each other and the music during their dance routines while coming close to the fans on the front row, making it a more intimate experience. The vocals were strong on the night, it is hard for singers to truly replicate the sound they achieve but tonight it sounded exactly like their records.
The band was moving around the stage in captivating ways, covering all of the stage and switching instruments continuously. Clean Bandit is touring with the release of their new content which the fans were eagerly waiting to hear.
Closing the night off, the band was still going strong, full of energy playing a couple of their hit songs. The show was entertaining and having a support band on would have added to the night significantly. The concert was all round great despite having the long wait for them.
Definitely would recommend catching them live if you ever get the chance! Be prepared to be covered in confetti within about 15 minutes!
