'Happy Lies' is the second single to come from the Brighton duo Reveal the Road - a band with an eclectic mix of elements and influences within their music. Formed by Jodie Holliday and Reece Collins in 2016, the band cite acts such as Yellowcard, You Me at Six and Bring Me the Horizon as influences on their sound, which draws heavy riffs and electronics in contrast with an emphasis on melodic phrasing and rhythmic tension to build their songs around.
That being said, Reveal the Road come across as quite understated on 'Happy Lies' - a light power pop track with a shimmering orchestral arrangement to accompany. This is somewhat in contrast to their debut single 'Puppeteer' which showcased an uber aggressive pop punk/grunge sound, not unlike We Are The In Crowd or Evanescence.
