SOUTH ARCADE // main stage // 1:35PM

Alternative rock outfit South Arcade take listeners on a nostalgic trip down memory lane with the unveiling of their latest single ‘HOW 2 GET AWAY WITH MURDER’.

The band have built a strong reputation for their energetic live performances having previously supported the likes of Taylor Acorn, Dead Pony, RØRY and Yours Truly. Heavily inspired by the 2000’s pop rock era, the Oxford-based band have captured the Y2K nostalgia and aesthetic, while combining it with their modern production and they are only just getting started…

LAMBRINI GIRLS // main stage // 12:45PM

Lambrini Girls, the Brighton-based duo of Phoebe Lunny (vocals/guitar) and Lilly Macieira (bass), have spent the last few years on a tear in more ways than one, and now share news of their debut album Who Let The Dogs Out released 10th January 2025 via City Slang alongside single ‘Big D*** Energy’ (censored spelling).

Who Let The Dogs Out was recorded with Gilla Band’s Daniel Fox with mixing by Seth Manchester (Mdou Moctar / Battles / Model/Actriz), and the record bottles everything wrong with the modern world and shakes it up. If peppering political songs with humour is like sticking a sparkler in some bread, then Who Let The Dogs Out is like a fireworks display in the factory itself: strange, dangerous, exciting.

The album rips through a laundry list of social ills. Sirens blare over a heavy distorted bass and a live drum breakbeat, dancing between upbeat pop punk, dirty grunge tones and discordant post-punk. There’s even some noise-pop cheer for putting yourself first, whether it’s having an autistic meltdown or doing a poo at your mate’s house.

With instrumentals that inhale you like a Level 5 tornado and sentiments that make you want to kick the nearest door through, it’s a take-no-prisoners debut from one of the UK’s most fun and fearless bands.

“You know how Fleetwood Mac almost dedicated Rumours to their cocaine dealer? I think we should dedicate this album to all the booze we bought at Tesco.”

CHEVRON STage

BECKY HILL // CHEVRON stage // 8:20PM

Becky Hill’s second album, ‘Believe Me Now?’ is an effervescent, uplifting dance record that insists on credibility but reaches out confidently for its audience without once compromising on authenticity. Lyrics reflecting on love, self-worth, living life and letting loose sit alongside songs about loneliness, isolation and betrayal in a brilliantly empowering way. This wrecking ball of a record is ambitious, truly exhilarating and paves the way for a type of dance music where uncompromising production lives harmoniously alongside instantly captivating choruses, as witnessed by the Chase & Status-produced, Platinum-selling single, ‘Disconnect’. Hitting the Top 10, the epically anthemic track perfectly treads the line between the rave and radio. “When I thought about what had come before now, I realised I was missing a couple of things: specifically, the element of euphoria but also, I wanted to create a much more mature, sophisticated level of dance music in this album. I think ‘Disconnect’ is the perfect example of that.”

Becky has already achieved a huge amount over the past decade, but of course there’s so much more left to do. “I’d love my music to be resonated with across the globe. I’ve love to have a long lasting, fulfilling artist career that isn’t boundaried by being the young hot stuff on the scene but where I can continue to lead and pave the way for other women, other people wanting to do this genre of music. I’d love to have real longevity in this industry. I feel like some of my goals have aligned but the one that’s remained constant is that I just want to make great music,” she insists. “She’ll be doing this into her sixties, right? “Oh, trust me, I’ll be raving forever!”

WUNDERHORSE // CHEVRON stage // 6:15PM

Wunderhorse (Jacob Slater, Harry Fowler, Peter Woodin and Jamie Staples) have seen their popularity snowball the old fashioned way; winning fans over through visceral live performances and Slater’s vivid songwriting. Their 2022 debut album ‘Cub’ saw them graduate from raucous basements to show-stealing support tours with the likes of Fontaines D.C, Pixies, and Sam Fender, and a packed-out Glastonbury Woodsies tent – all in the space of a year. Their new single ‘Midas’ captures the raw power and energy that has set them apart as one of the most formidable live acts of recent years. Rugged hooks, unfiltered noise, and fierce melodic sensitivity set Wunderhorse up for a year that will see them firmly established as an endlessly addictive and rousing generational talent.

BAKAR // CHEVRON stage // 5:10PM

Bakar is quite simply one of the most exciting artists in Britain right now. Resisting categorisation during his steady growth into the spotlight, he offers all the lyrical power of a rapper, the virtuosic poise of a producer and the pop craft of a singer-songwriter. Following two show-stopping mixtapes, cosigns from several members of music royalty, modelling campaigns with Louis Vuitton, Prada and Virgil Abloh, and a single that topped a Billboard chart in the US, he’s now preparing to send shockwaves around the world with the follow-up to his 2022 debut album Nobody’s Home.

His first single of 2023 is ‘Good News’, a feel-good love song that debuted during Givenchy creative director Matthew M Williams’ runway show at Paris Fashion Week. Bakar is now planning the release of his next album Halo, the work of a grown man who’s no longer a bad kid. His confidence is sky-high, and his ambitions are even higher. “I just wanna be a great,” he says. “When it’s all said and done, I want them to put me in that conversation.”

PALE WAVES // CHEVRON stage // 4:05PM

“Feeling naked, dressed up head to toe / It’s been a while since I’ve been this vulnerable,” sings Heather Baron-Gracie – of the British alt-rock four-piece Pale Waves (Heather, Ciara Doran, Hugo Silvani, Charlie Wood) – on “Seeing Stars”, a gorgeously melodic slice of dream-pop about opening yourself up to love, heartbreak and self-discovery. In many ways, these are the themes that define their fourth album Smitten: vulnerability, love, sexuality, queerness, finding yourself, moving on, growing up. “I was reading a lot of sapphic poetry and queer films and just being ultra queer,” Heather says today. “I feel like that unlocked a lot of my past experiences with women that have been in my life, that I’ve been in relationships with and that I’ve been in love with.”

While Pale Waves’ first three albums focussed on the band’s immediate present, Smitten is a lot more preoccupied with past lives – some more recent than others. Written two years after Unwanted, and after the tour that followed, Heather found herself in a headspace where she could finally breathe, and reflect, like peeling through the pages of a long-forgotten teenage diary and being surprised by what she found. “I found myself writing about not just a certain time period, but my whole life, from years ago,” she says. “When I fall in love, I fall deep, and it’s interesting to me that you can feel so fascinated and smitten with someone and then they can become a total stranger. So I feel like Smitten really summarised perfectly what I felt for others at a certain point.” So much of Smitten captures the excitement and euphoria of early queer relationships; some of which come alongside confusion and pain.

Ultimately, Smitten is Pale Waves at their realest and most grounded. The songs sparkle with an intense emotional resonance that was only possible to express from a place of relative calm. “For this fourth album, I didn’t really feel the pressure,” says Heather. “I had a lot of time to try things out for size. Me and the band figured out what works for us. Smitten is different [from anything else we’ve done] because you can hear the freedom that we all feel – it’s not trying to be anything. We wanted to put that into existence.”

POZER // CHEVRON stage // 1:55PM

Following the release of his first single of 2025, Shanghigh Noon—which premiered on BBC Radio 1 with Jack Saunders and as a Target Embargo on BBC 1Xtra last Thursday—and a the announcement he’ll be performaning at this year’s MOBO Awards, where he earned two nominations including Best Newcomer, South London breakthrough artist Pozer announces his highly-anticipated debut EP, Against All Odds, out this Friday.

Produced by longtime collaborator RA, with additional production by Jordan Bikila on “Habits,” Against All Odds is a bold statement from a one-of-a-kind artist. From the buttery-smooth soul of “Follow Your Dreams” to the hazy psychedelia of “Habits”—evoking Goldie-era A$AP Rocky—Pozer pairs his old-school grime-inspired lyricism with boundary-pushing beats that draw on psych, drill, Jersey club, and classic soul, all filtered through a fresh British lens. The result is a transformative debut EP from a leading voice in the next wave of UK rap.

And it’s already catching on in a big way. In just 12 months, Pozer has amassed an impressive list of achievements, including a nomination for the BBC Sound of 2025, a TV debut on Later… with Jools Holland, and a collaboration with AJ Tracey on “Heaterz,” which landed on the BBC Radio 1 C-List. Beyond the hype, Pozer is breaking records: at just 24, he released two of the highest-selling British rap tracks of last year, became the first UK rapper to have his first two singles chart simultaneously, and has accumulated over 105 million global streams.

His intricate wordplay and unmistakable sound have earned co-signs from Stormzy, Pa Salieu, Dave, AJ Tracey, Nemzz, Knucks, Chip, and Chy Cartier, while his music has been playlisted on BBC Radio 1, BBC 1Xtra, Capital Xtra, and KISS. Pozer also features on major “Artists to Watch” lists—including Dazed 100, NME 100, Billboard Artists to Watch, No Signal Class of 2025, VEVO Artists to Watch, Mixmag Artists to Watch, and British Vogue’s Ones to Watch in 2025—solidifying his place as one of the UK’s most exciting new talents.

BLANCO // CHEVRON stage // 12:35PM

At least twice in his career, Blanco has been on the frontline of a massive cultural shift in UK music. First, with the rest of his Harlem Spartans cohorts in the earliest days of drill’s formative years, and then when he went solo and surprised everyone with a project—City Of God—that swapped sliding 808s for Baile funk. “I don’t even like getting props,” he says of his influence on drill and UK rap more generally, “because the one thing pioneers have in common is that they don’t get as much money as the people they put on. So I hate when people say ‘pioneer’. I want the money, man.” He laughs it off, but his laid-back ideals are quite refreshing.

The Kennington-bred artist, born Joshua Eduardo to Angolan refugees, says he didn’t feel a massive connection to UK culture or music growing up. Blanco, now 23, was exploring his tastes at a time when grime faded out of view and the most exciting new music, at least in his eyes, was coming from across the pond where names like 50 Cent and T.I. were setting pace in the rap world. “There were some UK bangers that stood out,” he says, adding that he did watch music TV stations like Flava and Channel U at points. “Kano is one serious guy, but most of the time I was listening to American songs — especially the old-school ones. That’s why I know many songs before my time; that’s what I grew up around. I rate Drake as well, though.”

You can sit in the situations you’ve just got your head around, try and make even more sense of them and risk coming out the other end none the wiser. SUNDAY (1994) // FESTIVAL REPUBLIC STAGE // 12:00PM

Sunday (1994) is a story of love. A love that turns lonely long-haul flights into emotional dramas, and bad apartments into settings. A love that starts with a meet-cute and never ends. A love that was born out of music, bonded by music, and now explored in music. Sunday (1994) is a soundtrack

A collaboration 10 years in the making, Paige Turner and Lee Newell knew they would make music together the second their relationship started. Without ever needing to discuss the sound, style or direction it would take, theirs is the effortless artistry that comes from total trust and honesty. Now rooted in London, the young four-piece have released new single “Fly”-recorded live to tape in March 2024 at 123 Studios in Peckham with Brett Shaw(Foals, Florence + The Machine).

Most recently, Keo took to the rainbow stage at BST Hyde Park with Kings Of Leon, The Vaccines and Paulo Nutini. Grabbing the attention of festival goers as they opened the stage for the day, and solidifying their spot as ones to watch in the alternative rock sphere.

An urgent, at times enraged blast of alternative rock, vocalist Finn’s rasping delivery and his astute reflections on trust and toxic relationships all patiently build toward a cathartic release of emotion.

Bridging the gap between 90’s grunge, shoegaze and alternative rock, the band note the influence of Jeff Buckley, Radiohead and The Smashing Pumpkins on their work, with further contemporary inspiration coming from acts including Wunderhorse and Fontaines D.C.”
