LIDO Festival, the newest addition to London’s summer calendar, is proud to announce an extended partnership with East London Arts and Music (ELAM) college. ELAM is a full-time Industry Academy for 16 to 19 year olds interested in pursuing a career in Music, Film and Television Studies, and Games Design. Based in Bromley-by-Bow, ELAM is a neighbour to Victoria Park. Here, they partner with leading creative professionals to inspire young minds, while encouraging the vision that all young people should see themselves represented in UK culture. Alongside ELAM, AEG will provide a nurturing scheme that offers students first-hand experience with festival teams through mentorships, internships, work experience, and masterclasses, with further opportunities to come.

2025 marks the start of the multi-year partnership between AEG Presents and ELAM, helping young adults break into the music business by pairing them with industry professionals in sectors such as booking and talent, partnerships, event management, marketing and content, ticketing, and music technology. AEG will offer ELAM students exclusive opportunities through several cohorts of one-week work placements, allowing trainees to shadow festival teams in a pre-event and in-event capacity. They will also expand on their established summer internship programme to offer two additional month-long internships specifically at LIDO.

During term time, AEG will run exclusive masterclasses, delivered by their team of professionals and festival partners, offering key industry insights. Selected students will also be invited to take part in formal mentorship programmes with senior leaders at AEG.

Lynsey Wollaston, VP of European Festivals at AEG Presents, said:

“Students need to learn first-hand how the music business works and we have the pleasure of sharing industry experiences and knowledge through our partnership with ELAM. We have worked with them for several years at All Points East, and are excited to offer even more opportunities to showcase what goes on behind the scenes at some of the biggest UK festivals.”

Zoe O'Connell, Senior Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager at ELAM said:

“Thanks to AEG for supporting ELAM through this incredible partnership. The opportunities this will provide to our trainees to gain real-world experience through work experience, internships, performances, mentoring and masterclasses have the potential to be truly life-changing for young people who might not otherwise have the chance to gain access to this industry. We're excited to see where this partnership will lead.”

Headliners for the massive weekend concerts are Massive Attack (Friday June 6) Jamie xx (Saturday 7 June), OUTBREAK Fest (Friday 13 June), Charli xcx’s own party girl festival (Saturday 14 June) and London Grammar (Sunday 15 June) for the inaugural LIDO.

LIDO is putting artists first and handing them control, for a festival entirely programmed by the headliners. They will bring their favourite artists, collaborators, newly tipped artists and their own style to each day. From the acts to the artwork and stage design, every aspect is personal to them. Named after Victoria Park’s Lido Field, the 10-day event will offer hand-picked music line-ups with a strong focus on sustainability, as well as community events during the week.

More headliners, full lineups and programmes are to be announced. Follow LIDO on Instagram and X, and join their newsletter here for updates.

Sustainable LIDO Festival

Power: LIDO will strive for the cleanest feasible power mix across the entire site, including:

  • Maximising usage of the existing grid connection to provide clean energy direct to the site

  • Utilising renewable fuels, but only where the above innovations are not yet able to provide what is required

Waste: Waste is the most visible impact of large events, but LIDO will drive towards new heights of event circularity:

  • Bars will offer ‘packaged only’ products, removing the need for cups (and reducing the power required for bar operations) and increasing usage of cans which are infinitely recyclable

  • This also allows us to reduce the waste streams – helping to provide clarity to fans and efficiency for our waste contractors to improve recycling rates

  • We’ll also tackle the volume of waste created, first by removing cups from site, second by providing reusable crockery for crew catering, and lastly by donating unwanted food to local communities

  • Single use plastics are also banned in all fan areas

Carbon: Measuring our footprint enables us to make meaningful progress year-on-year, and LIDO will benefit from our comprehensive data collection systems already deployed across our other festivals:

  • A partnership with travel management tool Lowr will enable us to track fan-travel emissions and plan for future mitigation

  • Assessors from A Greener Future will score our work and provide detailed carbon analysis of the whole event

  • Our existing ISO accreditation ensures we’re operating to the highest environmental standards
