READING & LEEDS ANNOUNCE FIRST WAVE OF THIS YEAR'S BBC MUSIC INTRODUCING STAGE
After launching in 2018 and seeing some best names today appear on this very stage over the years at Reading and Leeds Festivals, Today first wave of acts playing BBC Music Introducing Stage at this year’s Rockstar Energy presents… Reading and Leeds Festivals have been announced which include… Delilah Bono, Ellur, Jodie Langford and Sun King.
DELILAH BONO
Delilah Bon stands as a beacon of rebellion in the music scene, seamlessly blending mischievous hip-hop, hard-hitting nu-metal, and bratty riot grrrl energy, in a genre she calls Brat Punk. Her lyrics, unapologetic and empowering, serve as a powerful voice for women, non-binary and the LGBTQ+ community. Crafting imaginative soundscapes and characters, she fearlessly tackles societal issues including sexism, homophobia, and mental health. Her 2023 Glastonbury performance earned high praise from Kerrang!, calling her “one of the boldest voices in the rise of beautifully bratty heavy music” and securing her a spot on their ‘Sound of 2024’
ELLUR
Northern indie-pop artist Ellur writes self-detrimental love letters to herself in the form of danceable guitar anthems and timeless piano ballads. Ellur’s music glows with youthful energy whilst she celebrates and reflects on relationships, womanhood & growing up.
Over the past year, Ellur has released a number of widely praised singles including the feel-good indie-pop anthem ‘Anywhere’ (co-written with Kieran Shudall of Circa Waves), timeless piano ballad ‘Satellites’ and new festival-ready anthem ‘Boys’.
Whist picking up support from Radio 1, 6 Music, The Line of Best Fit and TikTok, Ellur and her fantastic live band have been busy touring the UK with Brooke Combe and The Pigeon Detectives and have supported Holly Humberstone, The Big Moon, Baby Queen & more! With a number of sold-out headline shows and upcoming festival dates already in the diary for 2024, (and named by Clash Magazine as one of the ‘Five Sets That Defined Live at Leeds In The Park’) Ellur and her band are certainly not ones to miss!
JODIE LANGFORD
Originally a spoken word performer, Jodie Langford turned her talents towards the music industry looking for a wider audience to spread her message and develop as an artist.
She comes armed with her unique northern voice paired with an incredible ability to turn observations of the world and her own personal experiences into relatable, thought provoking and often funny lyrical content that tackles everything from downing pints, dead-end jobs and the government, to more personal relationship issues or abstract concepts.
Her message is universal and every audience can find something to latch on to in each of her songs.
Always by her side is her trusted producer/DJ, Endoflevelbaddie, who channels her raw unfiltered energy and shapes the music that flits chaotically between Post-Punk, Techno, Drum & Bass and everything in-between.
Jodie continues to write new music in her unique way, never afraid to expose herself or call out the powers that be and has become a force of nature when she performs live, providing audiences with ferocious, confident, thought-provoking shows and, after a string of successful performances on her home turf, has been described as one of Hull’s best new artists to keep an eye on.
SUN KING
Sun King are a five-piece band from the north, blending sounds from the past and present with an electric feel. Having toured the UK with bands such as Wunderhorse and Deadletter in their first year together, Sun King’s live shows have gained themselves a fierce reputation as ones to watch in 2024.
