WIDE AWAKE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FIRST NAMES FOR 2025 BILL!
WIDE AWAKE FESTIVAL ANNOUNCES FIRST NAMES FOR 2025 BILL!
Wide Awake is back for its 5th edition! 5 years of celebrating independent music and counterculture. 5 years of you tearing up Brockwell Park with your energy. Half a decade in, and trust us, we’re not slowing down any time soon.
2024 was unforgettable, but if you know us, you know we’re gonna make 2025 even fucking better – and we’re beyond excited to announce that pioneers of Irish-language rap, Kneecap will be headlining Wide Awake 2025.
Fresh off the buzz of their second album, Fine Art, and the release of their biographical film, Kneecap are set to bring their distinct Irish punk rap sound straight from West Belfast to Wide Awake. Comprising of Mo Chara, Móglaí Bap, and DJ Próvaí, Kneecap is a movement, one about upending preconceptions about language and place, and reimagining what rap can be as a creative and cultural force. Rooted in community, craic, and defiance, missing them at Wide Awake would be, frankly, madness.
Joining Kneecap are fellow headliners CMAT, and English Teacher.
CMAT has taken the world by storm with her witty lyrics, distinctive sound, and unstoppable energy. Her incredible second album, Crazymad, For Me, was nominated for a BRIT award and shortlisted for the Mercury Prize, making her a serious force to be reckoned with.
Mercury Prize winners English Teacher, comprised of Lily Fontaine, Lewis Whiting, Douglas Frost and Nicholas Eden began writing together after meeting as students at Leeds Conservatoire. After the initial buzz from their 2021 single ‘R&B’, their highly-anticipated debut album, This Could Be Texas, soon made them one of the most talked about bands in British music.
On Friday, May 23rd, they’ll take over Brockwell Park joined by an insane lineup, including renowned electronic producer Daniel Avery, Philly punk quartet Mannequin Pussy, Aussie rockers Psychedelic Porn Crumpets, and PUZZLE – the solo project from The Garden’s Fletcher Shears – as well as garage punk icons SPRINTS. Also on the bill are Erol Alkan B2b Optimo (Espacio), Gaye Su Akyol, Getdown Services, Hello Mary, Hi-Tech, Frankie And The Witch Fingers, Jasmine.4.t, Martin Rev (Suicide), Mermaid Chunky, Patriarchy, Ugly, W.I.T.C.H. and Wine Lips.
Programmed for people looking for something different, Wide Awake is an independent festival united by a love of music that is unconstrained by genre or convention. We’re dedicated to showcasing some of the best up-and-coming talent around; expect leftfield Indie, Post Punk, Electronica, Techno and more across a line-up you won’t find anywhere in London.
This is only just the beginning. We have tons more cutting-edge artists still to be announced.
Wide Awake is brought to you by Bad Vibrations, LNZRT and the crew behind MOTH Club and The Shacklewell Arms.
