Huge line-up announced for brand new 'Bingley Weekender' music festival

James, Echo & The Bunnymen and Tom Grennan are all on the bill for the festival

A new music festival is set to rock Bingley this year, and a selection of big name acts have been announced for the first-ever 'Bingley Weekender'.

It was recently announced that the long-standing Bingley Music Live festival will not take place this year after Bradford Council ran at a loss on last year's event.

Now, a new festival will fill the void, and 2019 will be the first year for the 'Bingley Weekender', which will take place at Bradford & Bingley Rugby Club.

The inaugural festival boasts an impressive lineup, with James, Echo & The Bunnymen, Billy Bragg, Miles Kane and Tom Grennan among the names confirmed.

James confirmed their headline slot on Twitter - lead singer Tim Booth is of course a massive Leeds United fan.

Other headliners and acts are set to be announced soon, and the festival will run from Friday, August 30 to Sunday, September 1.

A statement on the festival's website says:

"Following the cancellation of Bingley Music Live this year, the all new Bingley Weekender event will be taking place in late August in a bid to keep bringing top class musicians to the area!"
