Glasgow Summer Sessions Festival have announced Slaves, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes, The Van T’s and Hot Milk will join the sold-out Foo Fighters show on 17th August 2019.
Mogwai, The Twilight Sad and The Joy Formidable join the bill for The Cure’s historic return to Scotland for the first time in 27 years on 16th August, while an epic line-up including Twin Atlantic, You Me At Six, Pale Waves, Ten Tonnes and No Rome join The 1975 when they return to Scotland on 25th August following a huge show arena show in Glasgow earlier this year and a clean sweep at the BRIT awards.
After securing their third UK top ten album last year and playing two nights at the iconic Glasgow Barrowlands as part of their biggest UK headline tour to date, Kent duo Slaves will return to Glasgow in August. Released in August last year, Slaves’ acclaimed third album ‘Acts of Fear and Love’ reflects that fear and love may actually be the biggest motivators in the world at the moment. Following their Mercury-nominated Top 10 2015 album ‘Are You Satisfied?’ and 2016’s Top 10 album ‘Take Control’, the band have opened themselves up to new territory. Glasgow Summer Sessions fans will be in for a huge performance with their high-energy show the perfect addition to the festival bill.
English punk rock outfit Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes make a much-welcomed return to Glasgow Summer Sessions. With the crowd firmly in the palm of their hands, the band take their audience on a journey of stadium sized rock, intense guitar riffs and out-and-out hardcore punk. Set to release their highly anticipated third album ‘End of Suffering’ in May 2019, Frank Carter and the Rattlesnakes will bring an unpredictable and impassioned live show to Bellahouston Park this August.
One of their biggest shows to date, The Van T’s will unleash wonderful noise on the Glasgow Summer Sessions crowd this summer. A band who continue to get better with each incendiary live show, they have played to crowds all over the UK with impressive showings at TRNSMT, TENEMENT TRAIL, London’s Community Festival, Live at Leeds and Meet the North to name a few. Known for their loud, grungy tunes full of bloodthirsty drums, bewitching harmonies and wailing guitars, the four-piece are certain to receive a rapturous response for their hometown return.
Emo pop-punk fourpiece Hot Milk also join the Glasgow Summer Sessions bill in what looks to be a memorable year for the Mancunians. Dropping their first single ‘Awful Ever After’ earlier this year with a premiere on BBC Radio 1, Hot Milk have made a serious impression on the music scene, supporting fellow Glasgow Summer Sessions acts You Me At Six on their European tour and now joining the incredible line-up for Foo Fighters’ headline show on 17th August.
Set to be one of the most anticipated Scottish shows of the year, organisers DF Concerts have tempted The Cure to headline a major Scottish festival for the first time. The Cure’s appearance at Glasgow Summer Sessions is part of a select run of headline spots at major festivals all over the world during 2019 to celebrate a career now entering its 5th decade.
Throughout this time The Cure have performed around 1,500 concerts, made 13 studio albums and more than 40 singles, and with new releases imminent, 2019’s line-up of frontman Robert Smith along with long-time band members Simon Gallup (Bass), Jason Cooper (Drums), Roger O’Donnell (Keyboard) and Reeves Gabrels (Guitar) are riding high.
Joining The Cure on the festival line-up are Mogwai, The Twilight Sad and The Joy Formidable on 16th August 2019.
Cementing their position as one of Britain’s biggest and most exciting bands, The 1975 have released consecutive era-defining, chart-topping records since 2013 and show no signs of slowing down. With a range of musical influences coming together to form their hybrid sound, The 1975 bring unparalleled lyrics and innovative pop to the table while curating live shows which truly reflect the band’s exceptionally unique style. With Matty Healy as their enigmatic frontman, the four-piece are due to release their highly anticipated third album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships at the end of the month as well as announcing a fourth album due in 2019, Notes On A Conditional Form. Selling out headline shows around the world, The 1975 will bring their incredible live show to Glasgow’s Bellahouston Park for Glasgow Summer Sessions 2019.
Joining The 1975 on an incredible day of music are Twin Atlantic, You Me At Six, Pale Waves, Ten Tonnes and No Rome on 25th August 2019.
Glasgow Summer Sessions is part of the Summer Sessions series which, last year, added Edinburgh Summer Sessions festival which will see Florence and the Machine, CHVRCHES, James, Madness and many more against the iconic backdrop of Edinburgh Castle this year. Glasgow’s offering last summer saw DF Concerts bring headliners Kings of Leon, Catfish and the Bottlemen and Kendrick Lamar plus thousands of fans together for one final huge festival gathering of the summer.
