HIT THE NORTH 2020

NEWCASTLE - SUN 3rd MAY

TICKETS ON SALE WED 20th NOV AT 9AM HERE

Fast developing its reputation as the region’s most vital inner-city festival for new music, Hit The North have today announced the first wave of names for 2020, forming part of its most ambitious lineup to date.

Taking place across Newcastle’s renowned live music venues on Sunday 3rd May, the fourth annual event will welcome Australian indie rockers DMA’s as headliners, alongside synth-pop favourites Fickle Friends, Brighton upstarts The Magic Gang and heavily-touted Yorkshire outfit Working Men’s Club, plus many more.

As with previous instalments - which have played host to the likes of Metronomy, Jungle, Sam Fender, Shame, Peace, The Horrors, Jake Bugg, Ratboy and Circa Waves - next year’s Hit The North lineup is brimming with talent tipped for major success over the next twelve months and beyond.

Heading up the bill, rock trio DMA’s have quickly gained major popularity here in the UK, becoming an indie staple and selling out a string of shows in the North East since the release of debut album Hills End back in 2016. With 2020 set to bring their as-yet-unnamed third album, the band’s return to the city could not be better timed.

Speaking about the first lineup announcement, Festival Director Steve Davis said:

“It feels great to be back! In a region where continuous cuts are being made to cultural projects, Hit The North is a vital platform for connecting emerging acts with new music fans, and also showcases Newcastle’s richness as a musical city in terms of its venues and home-grown artists.

Hit The North will return in 2020 and we hope the festival will continue to boost the profile of Newcastle and the wider North East region as a vibrant hub for new music”.

Joining the collection of indie heavyweights, Brighton synth quartet Fickle Friends will be showcasing their playful brand of infectious pop ahead of their second album, whilst fellow South Coast risers The Magic Gang will bring their critically acclaimed debut album to the city, following a spring UK support tour alongside Blossoms and The Lathums (who’ll also play the festival).

Continuing its tradition of introducing the most exciting emerging acts from across the UK, Hit The North 2020 will also play host to newcomers including Lauran Hibberd, Marsicans, Roxy Girls, Stereo Honey, Talk Show and Walt Disco, offering a prime opportunity to make their mark in the region.

With more artists and festival venues set to revealed in the coming months, Hit The North Festival is poised for its most impressive and diverse lineup to date.

Tickets for Hit The North Festival 2020 will go on sale 9am Wednesday 20th Nov, priced at £32.50 (plus booking fee) here
