THE 1975 ANNOUNCED FOR SUMMER SESSIONS HEADLINE GIG WITH SUPPORT FROM TWIN ATLANTIC
THE 1975 TO HEADLINE GLASGOW SUMMER SESSIONS THIS SUMMER!
Glasgow Summer Sessions today announced The 1975 as a headliner for Glasgow Summer Sessions 2019. They will be joined by Twin Atlantic, You Me At Six and Pale Waves on Sunday 25th August 2019. The Manchester band will headline the city centre festival for the first time and join a mammoth 2019 bill which also features The Cure, Foo Fighters, Mogwai, The Twilight Sad.
Cementing their position as one of Britain’s biggest and most exciting bands, The 1975 have released consecutive era-defining, chart-topping records since 2013 and show no signs of slowing down. With a range of musical influences coming together to form their hybrid sound, The 1975 bring unparalleled lyrics and innovative pop to the table while curating live shows which truly reflect the band’s exceptionally unique style. With Matty Healy as their enigmatic frontman, the four-piece are due to release their highly anticipated third album A Brief Inquiry Into Online Relationships at the end of the month as well as announcing a fourth album due in 2019, Notes On A Conditional Form.
Glaswegian rockers Twin Atlantic return home to Bellahouston Park at Glasgow Summer Sessions in 2019. The Sam McTrusty-fronted four-piece are set to return with new music following their critically-acclaimed album GLA which saw the band step their alt-rock attitude up a level with singles ‘No Sleep’ and ‘The Chaser’. Twin Atlantic will once again entertain the masses with hits from their huge career’s back catalogue, new material and their reputation for incredible live performances around the globe.
Sam McTrusty from Twin Atlantic said:
“Looking forward to playing new music in our home city next summer with our friends The 1975.”
Set to return for one of their biggest shows in Glasgow in 2019, You Me At Six join the bill following their 6th album ‘VI’ charting at Number 6 in the UK and focused on the serious business of becoming Britain’s biggest and best rock band. The band can count their recent successes as playing Alexandra Palace, Wembley Arena, and The O2 in London; scoring two Top Five albums (2010’s ‘Hold Me Down’, 2011’s ‘Sinners Never Sleep’) and a Number One album (2014’s ‘Cavalier Youth’) and taking 13 consecutive singles onto the Radio 1 A list. The incredible outfit are a welcomed addition to next year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions line-up.
Josh Franceschi from You Me At Six said:
“Looking forward to performing at this year’s Summer Sessions. Playing Scotland is always a highlight for us. The line-up is dope and it’s great to be a part of it.”
Signed to Dirty Hit Records alongside headliners The 1975, one of the best new bands on the scene right now, Pale Waves will join the bill at Glasgow Summer Sessions 2019. With a heroic performance at this year’s TRNSMT Festival under their belt and a hugely successful sold-out ruckus performance at Glasgow’s SWG3 in September, the band will make a hugely welcomed return to one of Scotland’s big stages next summer. From uploading their first songs in 2015 to the sold-out live dates, rampant critical acclaim and rapidly expanding fan community of 2018, Heather Baron Gracie, Ciara Doran, Hugo Silvani and Charlie Wood have already scorched an impressive path through pop with singles like ‘My Obsession’ and ‘There’s a Honey’. Their addition to the Glasgow Summer Sessions line-up ensures it’s a show not to be missed!
Pale Waves said:
“We’re really excited to be playing Glasgow Summer Sessions. The Scottish crowds have always been amazing to us so it’s going to be brilliant to be back!”
The 1975 addition to Glasgow Summer Sessions sees the band join fellow headliners The Cure as they make their return to Scotland after 27 years on 16th August 2019 and Foo Fighters top the bill on Friday 17th August.
Geoff Ellis, CEO of DF Concerts said:
“We’re thrilled to announce The 1975 as the third headliner for next year’s Glasgow Summer Sessions, and with Twin Atlantic, You Me At Six, Pale Waves, Ten Tonnes and No Rome all on the bill, fans are in for a treat.
“From post-punk icons, The Cure, to the return of rock legends, Foo Fighters and one of the biggest bands of the new generation, The 1975 – this will be a festival to remember.”
