Sunday saw Sabrina Carpenter close her two-night reign at the BST Hyde Park festival. Transforming the lush greens of the park into a sequin-studded celebration of pop, Carpenter left no doubt that she’s not just a rising star. She has arrived.

With 65,000 fans packed into London’s iconic park, the 26-year-old singer put on a show that was every bit the glittering genre-bending playground of cheeky theatrics that fans have come to expect.

However, it was not only Carpenter who treated the thousands of attendees during the day. Alt-pop troubadour Chloe Qisha delighted fans on the rainbow stage with her anthemic sound. While on the Great Oak Stage, rising superstar Olivia Dean brought her delightful neo-soul to a drizzle-filled day. Manifesting sunny vibes and keeping spirits high. Clairo personified the rise of bedroom pop as she played through a set which was both emotive and driving. The classic “Bags” received a chorus of voices from the crowd which challenged even the headline hits.

When Carpenter took to the stage, an immediate frenzy blanketed the crowd as everyone strained to get a glimpse of the pop princess. The crowd was in the palm of her hand, opening with the aptly titled “Busy Woman” she set the tone for a 90-minute spectacle that was equally high glamour and high camp. Her vocals shone through the mix, deftly moving from airy highs to husky lows. Throughout the performance, it was clear that Carpenter has one of the best voices in pop.

Her signature blend of sass and sincerity shone through as she delivered a set rich in modern classics like “Taste”, “Juno” and “Bed Chem”. While a surprise performance by legends Duran Duran brought a cover of the classic ”Hungry Like the Wolf” blanketing the crowd in a euphoria which Carpenter revelled in, showing off her impeccable vocals as she made the song her own.

Closing with the eternal summer hit “Espresso”, the shimmering synths and funky baseline guaranteed that the evening ended on a high. Reiterating her gratitude to her fans and the city for welcoming her so warmly, Carpenter left the stage for one final time. Drawing an end to a weekend which felt like a coronation of a new pop queen.
