A sold-out OVO Hydro is always a special sight, and last night, it was absolutely packed with thousands of eager fans, right up to the standing area doors—the fullest I’ve ever seen it. We were all there for one reason: to witness Teddy Swims deliver an unforgettable performance. But before the main event, the crowd was treated to an incredible opening set from Cian Ducrot, the Irish singer-songwriter who has been making waves online, particularly on TikTok.

Ducrot has more than proven he’s not just a viral sensation—his live vocals were flawless, effortlessly filling the arena with emotion. Performing fan favourites like Who Made It Real and I’ll Be Waiting, he didn’t just sing to the audience; he engaged with them, making a real effort to get the crowd involved and build excitement for what was to come. By the time he left the stage, the Hydro was buzzing, more than ready for Teddy Swims to take over.

As the lights dimmed, a wave of anticipation rippled through the arena. Then, with an explosive opening, Teddy Swims stormed the stage to I’m Not Your Man, immediately proving why he’s one of the most compelling voices in music today. His vocals were powerful from the very first note, and the energy from the crowd was electric.

Making an entrance as bold as his voice, Teddy stepped onto the stage in a long leopard-print jacket with a matching kilt, accented with pops of tartan—a clear nod to the Scottish crowd. Throughout the night, he treated fans to five outfit changes, each one as impressive as the last, complete with some fantastic hats that added to his signature style. By the end of the show, he closed the night in a sleek black suit and matching hat—a classic look that felt effortlessly Teddy Swims.

The visuals throughout the night were nothing short of breathtaking, perfectly complementing his emotional and soulful voice. A standout moment came with What More Can I Say, where the stage was drenched in space-themed visuals—a fun, unexpected touch that made the performance even more enjoyable to watch. Another unexpected highlight was the jukebox segment, where Teddy surprised fans with a stunning cover of Use Somebody by Kings of Leon. His voice was absolutely made for that song, and the crowd responded with thunderous applause.

Swims also made sure to showcase the talent of his incredible band and backing singers, performing a song with each of them. The standout duet of the night was undoubtedly Black and White, a spine-tingling performance that proved just how much heart and soul is poured into every moment of his show. But a special mention has to go to his band, who were nothing short of phenomenal. They weren’t just backing musicians; they were an integral part of the entire experience. The lead guitarist, in particular, was outstanding, delivering effortlessly slick solos that added extra layers of emotion and energy to every song. Watching them work together so seamlessly—tight, dynamic, and in complete sync with Swims—made the entire night even more special.

Midway through the set, Teddy took a moment to speak candidly about his personal struggles—the very experiences that shaped the first half of his latest album. His honesty resonated deeply with the audience, who cheered and applauded in support. Then came a truly special moment: he announced that he’s going to be a father! The Hydro erupted with cheers, celebrating alongside him as he revealed that he and his partner are expecting a baby boy. A beautiful moment that made an already special night feel even more personal.

Of course, a Teddy Swims show wouldn’t be complete without fan favourites, and he made sure to deliver. Lose Control was electric, with every voice in the arena screaming the lyrics back at him. Devil in a Dress kept the energy high, while Swims took time throughout the night to connect with his fans—signing a few things, taking pictures, and even checking in on the crowd to make sure everyone was doing okay. It’s rare to see an artist so genuinely invested in their audience.

To close the night, he chose The Door, a deeply emotional and fitting finale. As the final note echoed through the arena, there was a moment of pure magic—a collective appreciation for an artist who gives his all on stage.

Having seen Teddy Swims last May at the O2 Academy, it was incredible to witness how much he has grown—not just as an artist, but in stature and popularity. To go from selling out that venue to selling out the Hydro in under a year is an achievement that speaks for itself.

This show wasn’t just a performance—it was an experience. It was passion, vulnerability, and joy wrapped into one spectacular night. And if there was ever any doubt before, last night cemented it—I’ll be a Teddy Swims fan for life.
