James Bay has confidently solidified his position in the music industry since his debut in 2015. The recent Up All Night Tour, which celebrates his highly anticipated 2024 release Changes All The Time, commenced with a memorable performance at the O2 Apollo in Manchester following a notable run of shows across Europe.

The evening began with Canadian singer-songwriter Leif Vollebekk, who beautifully set the tone for the cold evening. His intimate performance, influenced by Bon Iver and Jeff Buckley, fascinated the audience with ease. Within the 30-minute set, he showcased his exceptional talent with the keyboards, both acoustic & electric guitar, and harmonica, creating a reflective haven to his viewers. His humorous claim of “writing” Oasis's classic track “Champagne Supernova” united the crowd, while his cover of Prince’s “Purple Rain” further electrified the room with anticipated excitement.

As James Bay took the stage, his graceful charisma invited the renowned spectators of Manchester's O2 Apollo to bring their collective vigour—and they responded with cohesive vitality. Experiencing his new single, “Sunshine in the Room,” live was a standout moment, emphasising his ability to fuse heartfelt lyrics with an infectiously upbeat sound that encourages everyone to share in the memories. The synergy between Bay and his talented band was a major highlight of the night. Their harmonies added remarkable depth to his songs, enhancing the emotional impact of the live experience. The enchanting lighting during “If You Ever Want To Be In Love” created a stunning visual delight. Moments of introspection, such as the acoustic rendition of “Can’t Help Falling in Love,” showcased further aspects of Bay's artistry. The setlist included electrifying highlights like popular tunes from “If You Ever Want to Be in Love,” the groovy “Wild Love,” and the invigorating trio of “Peer Pressure,” "Craving," and “Pink Lemonade," with hearts and lights shining during “Let It Go.” The track “Speed Limit” featured Leif Vollebekk returning to the stage, allowing the night to sparkle once more. Concluding the main set with the popular “Best Fake Smile” and the smash hit closer “Hold Back The River” showcased Bay's powerful vocal range, leading into a formidable night for Msnchester to witness on a bustling weekend night.
