Circa Waves returned to Newcastle’s NX on Friday night, delivering an electrifying set packed with singalong anthems, crowd-pleasing hits, and moments of pure euphoria. With support from Manchester’s rising indie stars Corella and the ever-charismatic Peace, the night felt like a celebration of everything that makes British indie music so infectious.

Corella kicked things off with their signature mix of shimmering guitars and soaring vocals, proving why they’re fast becoming ones to watch. Their set blended old favourites with newer material, warming up the crowd with ease. Peace, back with a vengeance after a period of relative quiet, reminded everyone why they were one of the most exciting bands of the early 2010s. Their blend of psychedelic indie-rock and Harry Koisser’s unmistakable swagger set the perfect foundation for what was to come.

Opening with "Do You Wanna Talk," Circa Waves wasted no time in igniting the room. The energy was immediate, frontman Kieran Shudall’s vocals cutting through the buzzing guitars and thunderous drums. "Hell on Earth" and "Movies" followed, sending the crowd into a frenzy of bouncing and beer-throwing.

The more melancholic "Let's Leave Together" provided a moment to catch breath before the band lifted spirits again with "Move to San Francisco" and the nostalgic "Like You Did Before", both tracks that had arms raised and voices belting every lyric.

Midway through the set, Circa Waves proved their ability to shift between indie-rock punch and emotive songwriting. "Sad Happy" and "Fossils" showed the band’s range, while "Lemonade" and "Sorry I’m Yours" brought a dreamy, almost cinematic feel to the night. The biggest singalong of the set came with "Jacqueline," a song that had the entire venue screaming back at the stage.

As the night drew toward its climax, "We Made It" and "Fire That Burns" raised the tempo once again, with NX shaking from the energy in the room. "Carry You Home" and "Be Your Drug" cemented the night’s emotional highs before the band closed on "T-Shirt Weather." The second the opening chords rang out, the place erupted, with a sea of bodies bouncing in unison, an iconic ending for a band that has mastered the art of a euphoric indie anthem.

Circa Waves have long been a staple of the UK indie scene, and their NX set proved exactly why they’re still one of the best in the business. With a setlist that perfectly balanced nostalgia, new material, and crowd-pleasers, their ability to bring fans together in a whirlwind of energy and emotion remains unmatched. NX was left buzzing long after the final note rang out, proof that Circa Waves still have plenty more to give.
