The fans were in good voice as they made their way to Hyde Park to see the pop queen Kylie. The volume is understandable when you take a moment to consider the sheer volume of hits that the Australian singer has had over the past 45 years.

No half-measures were delivered when Kylie took to the stage. A visual blitz of pyrotechnics accompanied her arrival alongside a glistening mirror ball.

From the start, it was clear that Kylie was firing on all cylinders as she tore through a set list which delivered all the hits, but also delivered some choice surprises which showed the stylistic range of the pop powerhouse.

While Kylie performed the vocals and dancing for songs such as “Hold On”, “Midnight Ride” and “In Your Eyes” the audience were matching her in fine voice and with accompanying choreography, clearly delighted by the night.

Modern club classic “Padam Padam” was devoured by the crowd and showed the evergreen chart topping ability of Kylie. Throughout, classic songs just kept coming during the set with “Can’t Get You Out of My Head”, “All the Lovers” and “The Loco-motion” leaving the crowd elated.

The crowd left just as they had arrived, beaming from ear to ear and singing their favourite songs. The past day had delivered pop perfection to the near 70,000 crowd and they had embraced it with glee.

Given her rapturous reception, I’m sure the swathes of fans hope her return is sooner rather than later.
