Jason Derulo's performance at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow was a thrilling showcase of both classic hits and fresh material from his latest album, 'Nu King.' The energy in the arena was palpable, with fans screaming (deafeningly so) and dancing throughout the night. Derulo proved himself to be an exceptional performer, commanding the stage with his charisma and infectious enthusiasm along with his phenomenal dance team.

However, while the atmosphere was electric, some fans, including ourselves, were taken aback by Derulo's vocal performance. While he undoubtedly possesses incredible talent and stage presence, there were moments where he struggled to maintain the powerful vocals that his songs demand. This was particularly noticeable during ‘whatcha say’ when opening the show, where his voice seemed strained and was missing the powerful high notes he is well known for. He often stopped singing, appearing to want the audience to fill in the gaps, but actually just completely avoiding most of his high notes. The notable exception was his performance of “Savage Love” where he showed that he was definitely capable of the vocal range commanded by his songs which led us to believe that the incredible dancing throughout that was affecting his singing.

Despite this flaw, Jason Derulo delivered an unforgettable night of entertainment, leaving the audience buzzing with excitement. His ability to captivate and engaged the crowd in what was a testament to his status as a pop sensation.

The performance was elevated to new heights by the mesmerising choreography and the presence of special guests, Les Twins from France. Their dynamic and synchronized dance routines added an extra layer of excitement to the show, seamlessly complementing Derulo's electrifying stage presence. With their impressive skills and innovative moves, the Les Twins captivated the audience and brought an international flair to the performance. Their collaboration with Derulo was seamless, adding an unforgettable element to an already incredible night of entertainment.

With a mix of old favourites and new material, Derulo proved that he still knows how to put on a show. Despite moments of vocal strain, Derulo's charismatic stage presence kept the audience engaged and on their feet throughout the night. The concert was an unforgettable display of entertainment, leaving the audience (young and old) buzzing with excitement.
