A throng of adoring screams greets every utterance and even every silence this evening. Beabadoobee is clearly worshiped by many of the fans tonight and she leaves them satisfied with an excellent show. Beabadoobee came to prominence after releasing a series of Eps between 2017 and 2019, before her debut album Fake It Flowers came out in 2020, followed up by two further acclaimed albums, 2022s Beatopia and this years number 1 album, This Is How Tomorrow Moves.

Generally, Beabadoobee operates on a scale between Pavement influenced indie rock and alternate pop with cutesy melodies and solo acoustic guitars. She has built a loyal following of ravenous fans, who were in fine voice at this sold out show. Prior to Bea taking the stage the support act Momma entertains with there brand of 90s influenced alternative rock and this goes down well. Though the audience are evidently waiting for there queen, showing a frankly astonishing level of revelry and excitement as Bea and her band take the stage.

Opening with California with its carefree chorus disguising weary lyrics, while the sweet catchy and fun 10:36 is meant with loud singalongs as crowd provide backing vocals. Continug the showcase the indie rock element as crunch y guitars introduce Charlie Brown, while the shoegazey Post has some fine guitar work. Her delicate voice juxtaposes nicely with the loud guitars. Lyrically her songs have a lot of variation refencing doubts around relationships, isolation, self-harm and romantic highs.

Solo acoustic run throughs off Girl Song further wow the crowd, though Glue Song is possibly slightly too twee though I would levy that the majority of the crowd inside the O2 tonight don’t agree with me on that front. Though the show is at its best with her fun if not revelatory take on alt indie rock the acoustic songs make for a nice change up.

Take A Bite is a personal highlight with intriguing dynamics and really nailing the indie 90s vibe. The show is closed with a version of See You Soon and the crowd are definitely hoping the title is a prophecy. The concert shows a continuing development as an artist and songwriter from Beabadoobee. Whose rising acclaimed and success is reflected in a confident and enjoyable show.
