THE GHOST INSIDE // THE GARAGE, GLASGOW
THE GHOST INSIDE LIVE AT GLASGOW’S GARAGE
★★★★☆ (4/5)
First act Boundaries had really warmed up the crowd well and the room was filled with cheers as metalcore pros The Ghost Inside took to the stage. Still at the top of their game even after having a few difficult years, they instantly got straight to the action and opened with the popular “Death Grip”.
By the second song, the energy from The Ghost Inside had the crowd riled up with fans crowd surfing and the mosh pit filled with people throwing down. This action continued for the remainder of the gig, with one fan seeing themselves over the barrier continuously, a huge grin on their face as they went.
Frontman Jonathan Vigil recalled the unfortunate and tragic event of a fatal bus crash whilst on tour in 2015 which led to multiple injuries throughout the band with drummer Andrew Tkaczyk partially losing his right leg. This doesn’t hold them back, with the precision and intensity of their performance, the crowd's response of cheer to emphasise with the resilience of The Ghost Inside.
A highlight of the night was that fans were treated to a first live performance of “Secret”, a song from their newest album released this year “Searching for Solace”. It was not only new bangers which graced the crowd, but older hits “Pressure Point”, “Split”, and “Faith and Forgiveness” once again had the mosh pits charged with energy. In between songs the classic staple of Glasgow “Here we, Here We, Here We F*cking Go” response from the crowd encouraged Jonathan Vigil to reveal that he loves the Scottish and this was his “favourite first night of tour ever, lets go!”
They ended the show with “Engine 45” which made many fans who hadn’t already been in the pit, take the plunge to make the most of the last moments. Unfortunately, the gig had to be cut short mid song, as a fan needed medical help with The Ghost Inside making the sensible decision to call it.
Overall it was a successful night, with respectful fans there to enjoy themselves and the music. Metalcore fans from Glasgow and Scotland will eagerly await the next visit from The Ghost Inside.
