The evening started with one of two local stars, Jamie Lee Harrison who is from Gateshead. He went to the same school as me growing up and it’s great to see him doing so well off the back of Britain’s Got Talent. Before coming out to the already full arena, his fans were chanting his name as they spotted him at the side of the stage. He played some classic covers including an acoustic version of ‘Castle’s In The Sky’, which was very good! This was soon followed by ‘Country Roads’ which also went down a treat.

Next up was another local star, Joel Corry who has become a superstar throughout lockdown. His set was full of pyro, bass and dancing; all of which got the crowd bouncing! He played most of the tracks, which have made him such a big success including ‘Head & Heart’, which has had over 700 million plays on Spotify. The other big hitters were played like ‘BED’, ‘Lonely’ and ‘Sorry’. It’s an exciting time for Joel as he looks set to be one of the household names within dance music.

Now the crowd were really revved up, Becky Hill took to the stage with the support from her fantastic band and backing singers. She came skipping out in her glamorous dress with a huge smile on her face as she was met by the screams and waves from the crowd. She played all of the hits that have made her a star including; ‘Remember’, ‘Lose Control’ and ‘Afterglow’. One of the best things about Becky’s performances is her connection with the crowd and the communication between songs. You can really feel the emotion between songs when she talks to the crowd and you can see how much it means to her. Her backing singers and band worked together perfectly and it was really nice to see her share moments with them throughout her set as well.

Becky will be playing more shows and festivals throughout the year and I thoroughly recommend going and seeing her play live. This is the fifth time I’ve seen her live and she gets better every time.
